hard to tell how good Miami actually is. They were completely dominated by an NFL team.

Re: Miami -7
Miami lost to an NFL team this weekend. For all we know they are the second best team in the nation. They have serious athletes EVERYWHERE and now a chip on their shoulder with something to prove.
I’m incredibly pessimistic about our chances here and expected to see this line much closer to -13.5. Which is where I think it ends up.
They picked us apart in 2016 with WR bubble screens, creating tons of open field 1-on-1 chances for their athletes to show why they play at Miami and not FAU. If they are smart they’ll do the same thing again.

We are an overall better squad than in 2016 but I can't get the images of that game out of my mind. I'm just not sure we match up very well with them. I do think we can produce more on the offensive side of things than in 2016.ah59396 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 9:49 amMiami lost to an NFL team this weekend. Do y’all think they have that many more athletes than SC and UNC in 2019? Or PSU in 2018?

Re: Miami -7
I saw some real speed on defense and offense that neither Carolina had.
When is the last time we had a screen pass?

Re: Miami -7
Miami spread the field against us and exposed us. I also remember them running a hurry up offense that Satt couldn’t seem to catch up to.
UNC and USC played a basic/boring brand of football between the hashes and we hit them in the mouth. They were slower and less dynamic.
I think we are better than we were in 2016 but you better believe Diaz is looking at how they dominated us 5 years ago.

Re: Miami -7
Demolished us with the quick throws and hurry up. I think we’re faster on D now, and importantly I think we can put up some points on O.ah59396 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 10:17 amMiami spread the field against us and exposed us. Re: Miami -7
We are Much better than in ‘16 by a factor of….. pick a number…. we actually do the quick pass to wrs ourselves…. we are better at cb… lbs just better athletes everywhere. Our D will do a good job of slowing them down. And we have many more offensive weapons than we did in ‘16. Do not expect us to be blown out….. unless we have a net 3 turnovers or worse. Have to contain their qb runs….. that concerns me. We will score more than a few points. Just think about this…. we scored 20 points on USC against a much better D than Miami has…..

Re: Miami -7
Just looked at our 2016 roster and I believe this team is far superior to our 2016 team. That team didn’t have a WR that could win a matchup with Miami. We were inexperienced on the offensive side of the ball and really undersized on the defensive side. We’ll need to play a strong game on Saturday to claim a road victory but no doubt we’re much better positioned to win this game on the road than we were that overhyped home game in 2016. At that point in time, we were still learning how to win ball games at the FBS level.

Re: Miami -7
You think this will only be a 2 TD game? My fear is that this is going to be 25 or more because Miami is a legit team. If we keep this close then I believe we should run the table. I was watching Alabama and thinking they should run through the rest of the country. What is crazy is that many boosters want Diaz gone and if we beat them I think there will be calls to fire him immediately.ah59396 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 9:49 amMiami lost to an NFL team this weekend. We are definitely better than last time but we are now on the road, Miami has a lot of speed, and they are coming in wanting to make a statement.

Re: Miami -7
I agree with that but we are on the road and Miami is very mad. I expect something like 42-17 but if this game is still in doubt at the start of the 4th quarter I'll be satisfied with where we are.

I think the line will be around -13.5. But I have a feeling this ends up being a 41-17 type ballgame.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 1:40 pmYou think this will only be a 2 TD game? Re: Miami -7
I see nothing that makes me think we can’t play them like we have UT, PSU, UNC and UofSC.
