So we complain about the Rock not having that electric atmosphere, then we complain about having a dynamite atmosphere and college age kids not being able to turn off that energy after the last whistle. Can't win for losing on this board. Our fans are either boring and unengaged (see last week) or we are a bunch of classless broods ( see last night).

It may be beneficial to consider a tarp (make it a nice one) to cover that walkway area.

It's a bad look, to be sure, but Marshall folks shouldn't act so incredulous. The last time I was in Huntington (1995), App won 10-3 denying Marshall the SoCon championship. Just before the game was over, the Huntington PD came to the App contingent and told us to zip our coats, remove our hats, and cover anything that would identify us as App fans and walk as quietly as we could to our cars. They said there weren't enough of them to escort all of us. The Marshall fans were threatening to beat us up, kill us, follow us back to our hotels, etc.
Not every fan is like that, but there are fans like that everywhere.

Go to any football game, "Anywhere, Anytime" you'll here things that'll make a sailor blush and not just by college kids. Nature of the beast, even at APP. I have had this experience since 1982.

Yeah. Let’s not pretend that they are a bunch of angels up there. Anyone who has been to an App game in Huntington knows better.appst89 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 10:04 amIt's a bad look, to be sure, but Marshall folks shouldn't act so incredulous. Re: Post-Marshall Comments/Thoughts
I have always said that the main problems in our society are caused by the 1 percenters and the fact that you can’t legislate away stupid. Over the past year or so that aspect of society has become more apparent. Out of the approximate 28,000 fans last night I’m sure that the number being either unruly or ignorant is close to 1%. If the Marshall 1 percenters act that way up there it doesn’t excuse that behavior in Boone but that being said a few (probably drunk) fans yelling F Marshall isn’t a unique thing that doesn’t happen in every other stadium every Saturday, Sunday or even Thursday.

This “scandal” says more about confirmation bias and the way we share information in the 21st century without vetting it than it does our students. Even in this thread I can tell many of you haven’t seen the video.
Here’s the video and I hope everyone actually watches it.
There isn’t a middle finger, no “kill yourself,” no talk of their mothers. Just a faint F bomb.
Now here’s the source: a salty Marshall fan who channeled her butt-hurt into a moral high ground.
If you guys have Instagram I invite you to watch her Instagram story (it will expire in 24 hours). She was having a great time before her team lost. https://www.instagram.com/stories/emiln ... =copy_link
Here’s what she tweeted mid-forth quarter. Getting saltier and saltier as the game went on.
I understand our fans’ inclination to rebuke any and all purported shitty App fan behavior, but right now all we’re doing is contributing to a hoax.

Re: Post-Marshall Comments/Thoughts
A tale as old as time. The team that loses has nothing else to say so they decide the winning team has a “classless” fanbase. My favorite was the Ga State barstool account complaining about it. They wouldn’t know a fanbase if it were sitting in their stadium.
It’ll blow over by the end of the day.
Crowd looked great last night. And frankly I’m glad there’s a little hostility in the stadium. It should be a tough place to play for the opposing players. No one was assaulted. It didn’t involve kids. A couple drunk idiots being drunk idiots.
None of us are obligated to apologize for the actions of a couple people.

The yelling from the stands during the game happens everywhere and is part of the what football is - it is the standing at the walkway and deriding your opponent that serves absolutely no purpose other than proving you are a dumbass.

Re: Post-Marshall Comments/Thoughts
Marshall found something wrong with it. On the return, they used our speed against us and ran a fake reverse that took us out of our lanes. But generally speaking, you can kick it high to allow for our guys to get down field, or you can kick a missile and hope it gets out of the back of the end zone. The latter has a lesser margin or error, so if you miss hit the ball, it winds up being fielded at the 10 with return possibilities.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 9:53 amWe start on defense outside the 25+ more often than not. A facet we need to polish. What is wrong with our coverage?AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 24, 2021 9:21 amI would like to make a comment or two on the kickoff comment. Marshall fell victim to new coaching woes of trying to get in a see who could wiz the farthest, however wizzing the most won in the end. 100 plays?! They beat hell out of us with big plays, but I thought it was a great win for the team, and a really good coaching job by our staff. We wore them out and Noel being fresh was clearly made difference. Brice had a good game as well, at times putting the ball where it was his receiver getting the ball or no one or throwing it away which appeared he was off. Some of you have complained about Chase, but his skill was a huge reason we won. Defense did well, holding a big play under their usual. Not sure their big time receiver Gabbage? did anything? I'll take this win all day long.
For sakes kickoff into the end zone, or hold student tryouts to find some one who can, damn tired of the 35-100yd returns when the opponents can start on their 25 yard line without drama.
1) It isn’t as easy as running up and kicking it as hard as you can. There are fundamentals and technique involved. He will get better. I would like to stand on the tee box and pipe a 300 yard drive down the middle of the fairway every time.
2) Hughes is a weapon but if he could do it every time, he wouldn’t be here at App.
3) The play call isn’t always to kick it deep.
Just food for thought.

This is bad, but not justification for the verbal assault from fans that can’t hold their alcohol. The everyone does it isn’t good enough. If the administration wants to champion inclusivity and acceptance of all, this can’t be overlooked.

Unfortunately it’s been deleted. Hopefully it makes it’s way back online.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. Poor behavior needs to be addressed (if it exists). No fan base is comprised completely of angels, except maybe Ga State - they only have 3 fans so odds are in their favor.

Agree with post , REMEMBER, it is always a GOOD sign when yo win and don't play your best game. Lou and Coastal should be similar games. Lucky to win with two turnovers and need to be better in red zone. Should have used Castle there!! Agree D was ' bend and dont break(( give up HR) and holding them to FG vs TD makes the point

Imagine focusing on spitgate and six drunk student using the F word after watching that epic game.
I agree with Gonzo this says a lot about society and what sells on social media.
Amazing comeback after some critical mistakes. This team has grit and has room to continue improving. First ring game next week.

Re: Post-Marshall Comments/Thoughts
Besides the failed 2-point conversion against Miami and although a small sample size, I thought we looked much better and more comfortable under center last night. I like the strategy in goal line situations moving forward, something we haven't seen much of in years past. Short yardage conversions and goal line situations under center with Peoples, if executed correctly, is a MAJOR bonus.
