The ESPN 300 high school football player rankings came out today for the class of 2014! I know most people don't look too heavily into these rating systems but what if we could pull one of these guys!? Love the momentum that our program has going right now so shoot for a home run! What are everyone's opinions on our chances of pulling a guy of this magnitude in? If not this year, when if ever do you believe it could happen?

I hope this doesn't sound too negative because I support the move we made and look forward to our future. But, I really feel like we will continue to get the same kind of athletes we have been getting as the top of the FCS food chain. We will get more and have to depend less on walk ons so we will be better but no reason to believe we will start getting 4 star recruits any time soon. Just look at the names beside the 4 star guys even ranked in the 200's, Ohio State commitment at 299. There will be the occasional guy that slips through but we get those now.

Fact is they will win head to head recruiting battles. But I love the fact that we are going after these guys early and aggressively. There will be cases where we are a good fit and we might pick off a guy here and there. I think we will hold our own against the likes of ECU and that is who we need to beat in recruiting battles not BCS conference teams.

If there is a time to go after these guys, its now. We've got nothing but opportunity before us, same with the recruits we offer. First step to FBS success is getting your brand out there, the next is winning. These first few recruiting classes can make the biggest impact, and will also get the most attention.

Well we beat the team that just beat "the best" and we only lost the "the best" by 2 runs. If only the players for "the best" had to attended real classes like our student athletes.

Since you brought it up, I feel the need to remind you that we do win the recruiting battle against them from time to time. Obviously they win the majority of these, but its not like we never have a shot at a kid they are going after. Nate Hyatt the closer on last years baseball team comes to mind.

If we ever have athletes caught up in a cheating scandal, I hope it is made public and that the players, and administrators, involved are dealt with properly and that we don't try to sweep it under the rug.

And no one has to make anything up, the reality they are providing is better than anything anyone could ever dream up; fake departments, non-existent classes, and bogus degrees is way better than making stuff up.
