As far as I'm concerned - screw UNC, UNCC or any other school that isn't Appalachian State. I'm tired of reading the pissing matches regarding those inferior institutions, and tired of people who can't let it go and drag it into every thread. If you'd like to have a meaningful discussion about App, and how those other guys affect our athletic programs (common opponents, future opponent, recruiting battles) then that's great. But to make snide remark after snide remark about it is childish (I'm looking at everyone here, not just the closet Hole fans).

Nope, loved every minute of that game. Pull for ASU always against anyone. Pull for UNC 2nd.

As a young boy I grew up a UNC fan. Never heard of ASU. When I got older I visited ASU, loved it, applied to it and got accepted. Never applied to another school. Just ASU.
Wife also graduated at ASU.
Child graduated at ASU.
Season ticket holder at ASU for years.
Never gave a penny to UNC or any other school, ever.
Bought a 2nd home in the Boone area 3 years ago just because I love the area/school.

BUT, because it is "known" on this board that I still pull for UNC as my second school I am an outcast because I am not an "only ASU" fan.
Who are YOU to make up the rules on who can be a fan of ASU and the criteria for such?

This board is supposed to be about discussion of ASU and other things. I get blasted for saying something about UNC on the "Other Schools" folder.

I also didn't think you were allowed to call other posters names? I was just called "scum of the earth" and it was allowed by the moderator. To that I am disappointed because they are supposed to monitor these things and not allow such...

I am so glad that I love ASU and the athletic program because if I based my love from the rules set forth by posters on this board I would hate ASU. Posters have even told me to "quit" being a fan and take my fandom to UNC... lol

To make some/most happy I am taking a break from this board.
I won't let a few people make me dislike ASU but that's what's happening. These same people blast other schools for being "smug".
I love ASU and sadly must get away from this board for awhile so that I can continue that love for my school.

There are several people on here that is "looking" for the fight. Whether it's here or on another board. 99% of what they say is not even worth a grain of salt. When they post some stupid comment or make verbally abusive remarks toward App fans and non App fans alike, I do shake my head and hope that normal people don't come on here and actually read their trash.

You brought up the topic of UNC here to take a shot at the "UNC haters". This is a thread that is completely unrelated to UNC in the "Appalachian Football" folder. While you may have prefaced the statement that drew the most ire with "I hope it never happens but", you finished it by saying you "can't wait" to see those criticizing UNC do the same thing to App.

On the other thread that was about UNC, you started by saying "Glass houses" and "At least it wasn't a rape or anything". When you defend the Tar Heels at the same time as taking a not so subtle shot at App on an App message board, I'm not sure what kind of response you are expecting.

People have come down on you for several of the things you've said but I'm not buying the martyr role. The conversation, particularly in this thread, went the direction it did because you steered it there. I do hope you come back to the board, join in the discussion and continue to support your alma mater though.

I disliked unc-ch before high school and I grew to dislike them even more after graduating from ASU. Once I realized how those people work the Board of Governors and state legislature to suppress sister institutions my dislike turned to down right disgust for them. Their political hacks work tirelessly to restrict funding and the granting of certain professional degrees - which ultimately leads to high income graduates i.e. donors. As much as that elitist bunch of snobs in Chapel Hell looks down their noses at schools like ASU I find it extremely difficult to understand how a graduate of ANY other state institution could possibly support them in any way, shape, form or fashion. The harm they purposely inflict on schools like ASU is downright sickening. All done specifically to keep little brother in his place.

I guess the main thing for me is that I just can't understand pulling for another institution that sucks resources away from App and prevents the school from having even more great things about it. I like some others grew up watching UNC and ACC basketball, but as soon as I went to App they became my school. I like to watch other games because I'm a college football and basketball fan(including ACC games on TV) but I don't really have a rooting interest I guess

And even though we don't see eye to eye with them, the same can be said for the other mid-sized institutions of hte UNC System like Charlotte, Asheville, Wilmington, Central, A&T, Pembroke, WCU, etc.
