Sure a lot of chatter from seemingly some folks in the know on the Belt board that it is a done deal that we are going to add four: Marshall, So Miss, ODU, and JMU. Apparently ESPN has signed off on it and it was stated by a connected StAte fan that the revenue payouts will not decrease with the addition of four teams. One UL poster said that the speculation is over and that we may have announcements by Tuesday or Wednesday. Our own AppDiesel put together this map of the new SBC:

Nobody to really claim unless we poached FIU. Florida has a ton of talent so whether we have a presence or not I'm sure it won't stop anyone from spending a ton of recruiting trips down there. LOL

Agree here. I just hope that the SBC bans JMU's annoying streamers. LOL
If some of the current AAC teams perhaps get poached by MWC or Big 12 then is there anyone in the AAC who may want to jump to the better football league (SBC)?

AAC took teams with potential for sure but there is no question that App, Marshall, Ga Southern, CCU, ULL, and Troy all have better historical and/or current success than anyone the AAC just picked up. Would love to see an OOC scheduling alliance between the AAC and Sun Belt.

ODU brings nothing football quality wise and I just don’t like JMU. The purple streamers still annoy me.

All good points. I know that football drives the bus, but JMU brings a solid overall athletic program. A really good softball program and both bring the potential to elevate both basketball brands.
We can avoid the streamers by shutting them out.

I don't like CCU but I like having them in our conference. ODU brings exposure in the talent rich Hampton Roads region. I think they have potential that the Sun Belt will better foster than CUSA.

Love all these. We added good brands. Marshall we all know about. Southern Miss has been down for a while but they have a good history. ODU is in a good market, rich with recruits; they have a beautiful stadium. JMU is a solid athletic program and good university (correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't their booster club have approx 12k people? or is that ODU?)
Additionally these are regional teams, which means 3 more games that are drivable for App fans to do road trips. And Southern Miss is close to New Orleans, so a game there would be a nice way to wrap a vacation around that.
I'm really pleased about these adds. Nothing but positives to say about this. But it is crucial that we renegotiate our tv deal for a better payout...does anyone know if the current contract has a clause for renegotiation if changed membership? Most do.
App, ULL, Coastal, Marshall...eventually Ga Southern will get it turned around; Troy has a good history and eventually should get good again; Ark St was recently good; So Miss has a good history; Ga St has potential and is trending up.....SB is poised to be the best G5 conference; now the Tex St's and ULM's should be the outliers and weekly we should see good matchups.

It was said that there would be no reduction in media payouts. No details but the same folks who reported the expansion indicated that to be the case.
