Great Day!!

If allowing ULM to score some meaningless TD's allows our 1's to rest, I can live with that.
If giving up 300 yds in the 2nd half allows younger players to get snaps, I can live with that as well.
If these younger guys playing provides opportunities for them to get some game film and learn from it, I'm OK with that too.
We are eight games into the season. This is a marathon, not a sprint. And App still has some big things it wants to accomplish this year. Like win the SBC East, get another stab at the Cajuns, win the Belt (pun intended).

In the end, all that really matters is the win. But, let's not pretend that all the damage done was against backups. My comment was an observation in passing. It was the same observation that Coach Clarke made in passing twice in his post game comments. The more important take away was the role that turnovers played in the game and our ability to capitalize on them. That's always a winning formula.

I am certainly and always proud of this team..6-2 and in 1st place...only thing that didnt sut well with me was going for it on 4th down up 35-0 in 1st half...which led to a ulm td...giving them momentum...other than that...really hard to complain....i know for sure when your up 49 7 at half time...its hard to stay motivated especially for these young guys out there. But overall this game blew away my expectations...ULM is so much better this year...they have nice wins over troy and s alabama...i was expecting more of a 35 17 type game pulling away sorta late second half...great job app!!!!!

I like going for it in that position, especially with how well the defense had been playing. Calling a play that was just stoned on 3rd down probably wouldn’t have been my choice, but it had worked a bunch of times previously and I don’t think we were going to stop the flow to change to Peoples or Castle.
Give 'em hell!

I liked going for it on 4th overall but the decision to go for it with a 35 point lead on our side of the field was questionable. It's not that it was "dangerous" because the game wasn't at risk, but just seems unnecessary. I'm not really worried about it though.
We do need to stay focused for 4 quarters but I also understand that it's hard to keep that intensity when the game is a blowout.

There might be a point in a game where we have to convert a 4th and 1 to win a game. Good to practice while up big.

Without double checking, didn’t all the teams we’ve previously played, except ULM, win yesterday or Thursday? Maybe it’ll help our SOS some?

Interesting. He was on the sidelines without pads when I saw him.

alot of 1's were in on D in the 3rd qtr when they scored 14 on really pretty easy drives. Just lost focus and that's not hard to do with such a big lead. the last score was a fluke after a long QB run. was a little concerned that the QB gained alot in in 2nd half and that's probably something that someone is going to see on film and try against us.
1's on O were in until early 4th qtr, thought that was a bit too long and we only managed a FG in that Qtr. Glad no injuries in garbage time.

I don't know where to ask this question, but it has been bothering me so I'll try it here.
Why are we sometimes calling for a fair catch in the end-zone? I have seen other teams do this too.
It is my understanding that if the ball hits the ground in the end-zone it is immediately dead and the ball comes out to the 25. So what kind of advantage would we have for calling a fair catch instead of just letting it hit the turf? Don't we take a risk of possibly muffing the catch when there really is no need to take that risk? Please someone help explain why we do this.

Good question. I'm sure Coach Elliott can answer that. Georgia State does it every single kickoff. LOLOL

APPs SOS is higher than the G5s ranked ahead of us this week except Boise State, fwiw
Cincinnati, SMU, Houston
I think we are finally ahead of Coastal and my pet peeve the Dakota State teams.
I can’t take anything seriously that has Notre Dame 7th
