Omar Carter

I do not have all the details but have been gathering some info on Twitter after seeing a few tweets from our basketball players asking to pray for Omar. From what I can tell, he was playing in a Pro Am event last night, hit his head, had some sort of seizure on the court and was taken to the hospital.

If anyone can find any concrete updates on the situation, please post it here. From all the first-hand accounts I found on Twitter from people at the game, it sounded serious. Please keep Omar and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Just heard about this too. Very sad! I saw one account that he had stopped breathing at the site, and they were using a defibrillator oh him. I gather they got him breathing, but he is now in a coma.

Such a terrible situation for a fine young man.

So sad when bad things happen to good people. Really puts things into perspective and trivializes the other little things we all get worked up about. God, I hope he pulls through.

Info is likely to be scarce due to HIPAA, unless he recovers well enough to "send" info out over his own social network or unless his family decides to release something. In addition, it could be days before his condition and prognosis are completely in focus for his doctors.

That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

That's maybe the first bit of somewhat positive news. An induced coma is a much better situation. Hope it just means they need to reduce swelling in the brain, etc.

Update on former CLT Christian & App St bball player @Omarcarter21: He had a heart attack during a summer league game last PM at CLT’s Grady Cole Center. He’s in a medically-induced coma at CMC Uptown, but he’s breathing on his own and there’s hope they can wake him from coma in a few days.

This is a BIG health deal for such a young man. Prayer is in order for Omar!

Fortunately Grady Cole is only about half a mile from CMC. Good news about him breathing on his own.

Hated it when he played against Davidson. Always a threat.

I hate this more, of course, and wish him nothing but the best, a full recovery, and a long healthy life.
