Yep. I really didn't want to post anything. I will explain after we know what is going on and I will show everyone what I found and what I didn't.

We have our 9th commit. QB JP Caruso (6' 1" 195) of Palm Beach Gardens High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. I will post the tweet I found earlier in the afternoon.

Dieter Kurtenbach‏@dkurtenbach
RT @jeffgreer: Via Facebook, QB coach Eric Kresser congratulated 2014 QB JP Caruso on his commitment to #AppState

I couldn't backup any of this so I didn't want to post this alone since all of the facebook and twitter posts had been removed. I guessed, correctly it seems, that it slipped out earlier and they took it down so he could make the video announcement.

I have moved him to the Commits section of the main page and there is video on the player page for those who haven't seen it. Looks like we are setting ourselves up pretty good at QB for the next few years. :D

I'm surprised, thought for sure he was headed to Air Force.

He had offers from ULL, Air Force, and FAU, very nice signing.

You and me both. I've been reading his twitter and I was sure he was going there. Great pickup. QB position is shaping up nicely for down the road.

You may be kidding and I apologize if you are, but Air Force averaged 316 yards on the ground and only 102 through the AIR (ironically) in 2012.

I agree that he seems like a nice kid and I love his tape. Plus, I'm inclined to believe coach Ponce if he says he's our top guy. Glad we picked him up.

Seems like a great kid...nice pick up.

I didn't check the stats....just going from past history, they usually have a pretty good QB there...

I did. Hopefully he doesn't switch when he realizes it's more like 30k

I'd say we still have the best attendance of anyone who offered him.

Richey Williams, Armanti Edwards, Deandre Presley, Jamal Jackson -- Now two elite QB's in Taylor Lamb and JP?!

We have an uncanny ability to land incredible Quarterbacks.

Gotcha. They actually run a lot of triple option nowadays. Still an impressive offer for us to beat out!

I imagine the kid from Mallard Creek we picked up is no slouch either. should be good competition between Lamp, Caruso and Scaife

Possible it was nerves but I've seen him tweet several times in the past few weeks mentioning 30,000 fans at App games, not 50,000. Of course one of his last visits was Air Force and they seat just short of 47,000. Could be either but he's coming here. That's what matters.

And BTW don't discount Scaife from the future. Looking at him on film he's a lot like a left handed JLJ. Things are going to be interesting in the next few years, not even counting who else we bring in.

Sometimes 30k+ can sound like 50K in our setting.....and I agree you have to like a kid that had those kinds of offers, and the ability to articulate what he sees and wants to do.

This could be fun!
Go APPS!

Caruso in a word.......ACCURATE. Reminds me a lot of former Herd QB Chad Pennington. Doesn't have a cannon for an arm but always keeps his eyes down the field and is as accurate as they come. Not fast, not big, not strong, just a polished HS QB. Watching film you often times see him go to the number 2 or 3 options which is rare in high school. Will be fun to see he and the Mallard Creek kid and the Lamb kid duke it out for years to come.
Appalachian State, Better than your school since 1899!!!!
