Chase Brice?
I'm going to ask. It's been on my mind. Could Chase be having a Heisman season? Or am i crazy to think it? Pretty impressive how he is leading this offense. I have never ever witnessed a qb as calm and in control in the 2 games to start this season. Have a bad play, hell they ALL get up pat each other on the back and grin like they know some secret.

Re: Chase Brice?
Too early to say, he’d have to put up gaudy numbers to make it to NYC.
Give 'em hell!

He will certainly get national attention and mentions next Saturday with Game Day in town. It's looking like the Belt will have some tremendous games as well.

If Ritter didn't have much of a chance last year, then Chase has no chance this year. But I am a big Chase fan. Good leader and a great kid. Spent some time with his family in Boca, wonderful folks that love App State!!!

Chase is having a great season so far, no doubt. But if you watch Bryce Young, QB for Alabama, you’ll see it’s him and then everyone else. Chase is good, but Heisman candidates are other worldly.Yosefus wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 7:21 amI'm going to ask. It's been on my mind. Could Chase be having a Heisman season? Re: Chase Brice?
That one play he made where he had to scramble and avoid a couple of tacklers then delivered the key pass was great. He really has shown a lot of touch on several of the long sideline passes. We missed that one TD by half a shoe. He hit Wells in the hands- tough drop. Average stats would have been considerably better with those plays.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:05 amChase is having a great season so far, no doubt. Re: Chase Brice?
I would take Brice 8 days a week and twice on Sunday.. however,.he was only 15/30 and a little over 160 yards. That does not say Heisman trophy given history of HT. Yesterday, he missed some throws that were overthrows that we see from him time to time. If he would have put the pass in the middle of field on the slant to 9 on the numbers that is a TD. 9 should have caught it anyway as it was right where we were sitting...but if hit in stride..that is a TD. Brice is a tough guy. He took some hits on runs and got up. Actually thought the slide in 1st half should have been penalty on A&M.

Re: Chase Brice?
Unfortunately, due to bias, CB7 would likely need to come close to replicating the numbers he had against UNC last week for the remainder of the season to even be in the discussion. Regardless, I’m glad he’s leading our team.
On a side note, I’d like to see the OL take home the Joe Moore award!

Re: Chase Brice?
Yeah not a discussion without a few huge games. And even then it would be seen as “lower competition”.

Re: Chase Brice?
I like to give a QB the benefit of the doubt because we are watching a game mostly from way above the action. If the camera was at field level behind the line and we could see (or not see) what the QB sees (or can't see) some criticism would be tempered. It's easy to critique a guy for missing a receiver but you can't always know what the sight lines were and these guys are human with heart rates and big ass humans trying to level them. The superstar A&M QB missed on a few wide open plays as well. Our coordinator called a fantastic game and we did exactly what we needed to do for the win. My only slight criticism was the couple of deeper throws we did to the right. We had like a 3rd and 6 but tried a difficult 30 yard pass. I'm not questioning anything that the staff did yesterday other than a few shots we took. Again, fantastic play calling and player execution!!BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:16 amI would take Brice 8 days a week and twice on Sunday.. however,.he was only 15/30 and a little over 160 yards. Re: Chase Brice?
Instead of Heisman potential, I think a better discussion is NFL potential. Can he prove enough to get drafted? If so, what round? If not, does he get a free agent shot?
6'3" 235, He has the measurements. Not the fastest guy even, but gets the scrambling done when needed.

Since I was there, I had a pretty good sight line for all of his throws. I love Brice. Best passing QB we have ever had in my opinion. He is human. He missed some throws yesterday. It is what it is.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:25 amI like to give a QB the benefit of the doubt because we are watching a game mostly from way above the action. Re: Chase Brice?
Agree. I've always thought that the 40 time for some positions is a dumb stat- especially for linemen and I'll say QB. Only a few of those guys can take off and go 30-40 yards. He has shown that he can make the right decision when needed and can scamper for the 10 or so needed yards. I'll take that all day.appdaze wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:30 amInstead of Heisman potential, I think a better discussion is NFL potential. Can he prove enough to get drafted? If so, what round? Re: Chase Brice?
Any QB from the G5 making it to NY for the Heisman is a huge long shot. Brice is doing great. He really didn't have his absolutely best day yesterday but he was solid and got it done when needed. He did miss a couple of passes (over threw) but also had a couple of drops that should have been easy catches. He is definitely on track for being first team all conference in the Belt. That said....what happened to McCall and CCU yesterday? They struggled to put away Gardner Webb. I was shocked to see that. Maybe let down after a strong game against Army. Before hitting "Submit" I did look at the stats and looks like McCall had a good passing game, but CCU couldn't run the ball. WOW. I'm sure they'll be back by the time we play them. Marshall beating ND and GS beating Nebraska. HUGE day for the Belt. I think Brice and our weapons will be hard to stop though.

Re: Chase Brice?
Just look at 1970 to now Pre 70s was just too different of a landscape to really compare. How many non, top 25 programs do you see? That will tell you his chances.
