Just a couple great sign ideas after seeing the clip from TNF last night with Al Michaels and Kirk... Are they petty? Sure but they're taking shots at us Thursday Night Football.
GO HOME KIRK
and
"DO NOT DISTURB"
I'm also a huge fan of RETIRE CORSO
Im pretty sure the point of the signs is not to ridicule the hosts. Retire Corso? Really?
I'm well aware that's not their idea for the signs. Yes, Retire Corso. I even acknowledged my post as petty.
They both hate the Group of Five am I'm sorry I'm not going to gush all over them because they decided to throw us a bone. Gameday coming here is great. I love the exposure and all of that but that doesn't mean they get a free pass from me. If they cared about App they would flex our game and take us off ESPN+.
No offense but you are contradicting yourself. You realize gameday coming to Boone is not them throwing us a bone. And you can’t say you love the exposure of gameday but dont love gameday. They are recognizing who we are as a program. I’ve seen nothing but praise for App and the Sunbelt. I assume based on your post you will be boycotting Gameday. Honestly you sound like a Tennessee fan. Everyone is against us all the time. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. We are the darling of college football at the moment. And we’ve earned it. Stop borrowing trouble where there is none and enjoy the experience. I’m completely secure where App is in the college world. And at the end of the day it’s college football played by kids. Just enjoy the fun of it. Or just enjoy the enjoyment the students and players are having.
I said I was going to leave it alone and after I address this comment I will.
I don’t believe I’ve contradicted myself at all. Gameday changing their plans and coming to Boone is absolutely them throwing us a bone. If they cared about the game, it wouldn’t still be on the +.
My issue as I stated, is with Kirk and Corso. I do love the exposure from Gameday and I never once said I didn’t want them here. My comments were about making signs to take to Gameday, how did you infer I’d be boycotting it?
ESPN doesn’t care about us and I don’t think Kirk and Corso do either. Having a chance to let them know that I haven’t forgotten what they’ve said about us or our G5 brethren is fair game.
That’s all you’ll hear from me on the matter.
ESPN cares about ratings and a story. They want eyeballs and they know that doing this will get ratings because we have been at the center of college football for this week. They were caught in a tough spot because they had picked A&M but realized after our win that it just would not look good to shine a light on A&M even more this week. It would not surprise me if A&M was glad to give up hosting it. ESPN wanted to focus on the Sun Belt but nobody had a huge game and Marshall was on the road. If App was playing Marshall this week I have no doubt they would be at that game.
I think if they have a fun experience and the ratings are comparable or higher than normal that they would most definitely come back. From what Gillin has said to some folks it sounds like ESPN views us in a very positive light now and is helping us somewhat. We have a brand as giant killers now and they will feature us.
As far as the signs I hope folks don't do that but I'm sure a couple will and the rest of us can ignore it. As long as the crowd is not vulgar to Kirk. There is a funny way to do it and like I said above I wonder if perhaps producers and the hosts have talked about doing something to bring it up in a fun way. If he gets some boos at all from students then you know he could quickly turn those around by saying our name correctly and giving YOSEF a high five or praising the win from last weekend. We need to show ESPN respect so they will return.
The reality is that if Michigan had taken us seriously back in 2007 they would have won by 30+ and Kirk's comments would not even be remembered today. The football gods shined on us that day and everything went right. The biggest difference in 2007 and 2022 is that this year we went into A&M and beat them all game long showing we were the better team. It was not a lucky blocked kick or one fast player who saved us but our entire team showed to be able to hold their own. Keep in mind we had a backup LB replace an injured Harrington and he won SBC DEF POW. We have many positions where the backups are studs. We actually played more players than A&M did last weekend.
Let's go beat Troy and prove we are not lucky to show that we have a legit team. As Clark said, don't take the cheese and avoid the trap. The rightful place of the SBC CG is in Boone, North Carolina and tomorrow is step one towards making that happen. #BeatTroy
