Just a couple great sign ideas after seeing the clip from TNF last night with Al Michaels and Kirk... Are they petty? Sure but they're taking shots at us Thursday Night Football.

GO HOME KIRK

and

"DO NOT DISTURB"

I'm also a huge fan of RETIRE CORSO
Im pretty sure the point of the signs is not to ridicule the hosts. Retire Corso? Really?
Corso is game day. So is herbstreit. It would be brilliant to finally have them come to Boone then post a sign behind them telling them both to leave.
Agree 1000%. Corso is awesome. If he puts the Yosef head on, it will be an incredible moment for all of App Nation.

Seriously, some people need to let this crap go from *checks notes* 15 years ago!

Our program isn’t the same, our program isn’t viewed the same anymore. Chill out, enjoy the experience, have a blast, cheer on the Apps, and scream until you can’t speak for a couple of days.

GO APPS!!

I'm well aware that's not their idea for the signs. Yes, Retire Corso. I even acknowledged my post as petty.

They both hate the Group of Five am I'm sorry I'm not going to gush all over them because they decided to throw us a bone. Gameday coming here is great. I love the exposure and all of that but that doesn't mean they get a free pass from me. If they cared about App they would flex our game and take us off ESPN+.
No offense but you are contradicting yourself. You realize gameday coming to Boone is not them throwing us a bone. And you can’t say you love the exposure of gameday but dont love gameday. They are recognizing who we are as a program. I’ve seen nothing but praise for App and the Sunbelt. I assume based on your post you will be boycotting Gameday. Honestly you sound like a Tennessee fan. Everyone is against us all the time. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. We are the darling of college football at the moment. And we’ve earned it. Stop borrowing trouble where there is none and enjoy the experience. I’m completely secure where App is in the college world. And at the end of the day it’s college football played by kids. Just enjoy the fun of it. Or just enjoy the enjoyment the students and players are having.
I said I was going to leave it alone and after I address this comment I will.

I don’t believe I’ve contradicted myself at all. Gameday changing their plans and coming to Boone is absolutely them throwing us a bone. If they cared about the game, it wouldn’t still be on the +.

My issue as I stated, is with Kirk and Corso. I do love the exposure from Gameday and I never once said I didn’t want them here. My comments were about making signs to take to Gameday, how did you infer I’d be boycotting it?

ESPN doesn’t care about us and I don’t think Kirk and Corso do either. Having a chance to let them know that I haven’t forgotten what they’ve said about us or our G5 brethren is fair game.

That’s all you’ll hear from me on the matter.

It's amazing the select few who come on here constantly looking for a problem with nearly everything. If it's not the immediate bitching about play calls on the game thread it's about coaches in general or cups of ice and now it's that some ESPN announcer said something years ago that can't be let go. This is a great opportunity for exposure for our school, community and program tomorrow and again, a select few would actually like to use the national platform to attack Herbstreet? Wow that's amazing. I really hope some idiots don't actually attempt to make us look bad tomorrow and to really make Boone and App irrelevant.
If there is a legit issue that is fine but indeed some just want to complain. There are a few who would make something up if we beat a ranked team by 24 just because they are miserable.

I wonder if an ESPN producer, Corso, or even Herbie find a funny way to bring it up. They are going to bring up the Michigan game so I could see them playing the clip and Kirk possibly admitting the error of his ways or Corso, Pat, or someone else ribbing him about it. I could definitely see Pat bringing it up and ribbing him or some type of short skit planned. I do hope our fans don't boo him and people don't make idiots of themselves.

If this experience is as fun for them as I think it could be then I wonder if perhaps they come back were we to host the SBC title game?

It's not their job to care. Stop being so self centered to think people have to care about us. They don't care about most of the schools they do shows for. They are entertainers. Their job is to be sent somewhere by espn to create an entertaining talk show about football games. Stop being such self-centered butthurt pansies. They've created a successful entertainment brand, whether you like them or not is inconsequential, and they are bringing that brand for a visit to Boone. I'm incredibly happy that they are. If you aren't, go back to living under a rock. If anyone brings up a sign that disrespects them for them doing the job that they are assigned to do then I hope you are banned from campus and sent back to kindergarten to learn some respect. Be grateful for anything that helps our alma mater. I really wish some of you could go talk to the players and staff and tell them what you say on here to get their genuine reactions. Maybe then you will understand and if you still don't get it then I truly question how much You actually care about App.

Go enjoy one of the best experiences Boone has ever had. If you can't enjoy it then stay home.

That’s all you’ll hear from me on the matter.
ESPN cares about ratings and a story. They want eyeballs and they know that doing this will get ratings because we have been at the center of college football for this week. They were caught in a tough spot because they had picked A&M but realized after our win that it just would not look good to shine a light on A&M even more this week. It would not surprise me if A&M was glad to give up hosting it. ESPN wanted to focus on the Sun Belt but nobody had a huge game and Marshall was on the road. If App was playing Marshall this week I have no doubt they would be at that game.

I think if they have a fun experience and the ratings are comparable or higher than normal that they would most definitely come back. From what Gillin has said to some folks it sounds like ESPN views us in a very positive light now and is helping us somewhat. We have a brand as giant killers now and they will feature us.

As far as the signs I hope folks don't do that but I'm sure a couple will and the rest of us can ignore it. As long as the crowd is not vulgar to Kirk. There is a funny way to do it and like I said above I wonder if perhaps producers and the hosts have talked about doing something to bring it up in a fun way. If he gets some boos at all from students then you know he could quickly turn those around by saying our name correctly and giving YOSEF a high five or praising the win from last weekend. We need to show ESPN respect so they will return.

The reality is that if Michigan had taken us seriously back in 2007 they would have won by 30+ and Kirk's comments would not even be remembered today. The football gods shined on us that day and everything went right. The biggest difference in 2007 and 2022 is that this year we went into A&M and beat them all game long showing we were the better team. It was not a lucky blocked kick or one fast player who saved us but our entire team showed to be able to hold their own. Keep in mind we had a backup LB replace an injured Harrington and he won SBC DEF POW. We have many positions where the backups are studs. We actually played more players than A&M did last weekend.

Let's go beat Troy and prove we are not lucky to show that we have a legit team. As Clark said, don't take the cheese and avoid the trap. The rightful place of the SBC CG is in Boone, North Carolina and tomorrow is step one towards making that happen. #BeatTroy

Do y'all remember this guy from 2010-2015?

Word on the street is that he, and the shaved block "A", are going to make an appearance at gameday. Can't wait to see it!

Anyone who shows their ass tomorrow, needs to be promptly removed.
The sad thing is that there will be just as many alumni doing it as students. Adults who should know how to act in public and treat guests graciously. But we obviously have many who can’t do that.
Give 'em hell!

It's also hilarious to act like people like Herbstreit, Corso, etc. have any sort of control as to which games are on which channels.

My wife and I attended every game starting in '99 and continuing for about 14 years until old-age caught us but I tell you this, if she and I could have made the trip and hobbled over to GameDay she would most definitely have a snarky sign for Herbie and a big black and yellow cupcake - She has never forgotten, she has been saying all week, "that 2007 team played their guts out that day and that season and won another National Championship and Herbie can't get a free pass on his cupcake comment" - There you go - straight from the 70+ section :D :o  :D

This has nothing to do with being a perfect fan and has everything to do with just being a grateful and respectful human being. If that causes snarky remarks then it should also cause some long looks in the mirror from the snarky remarkers that should ask themselves if their inferiority complex is more important to them than the success of App, it's programs, and the opportunities for our student athletes to get exposure, and for future App students to benefit from this growth.

I'm 100% behind giving him a cupcake. I think that is a snarky but friendly jab that they could all have a laugh about and and bury the hatchet.

Let me just add this - we are not in favor of any signs or yells or boos which would degrade this day - I agree that Corso and Herbie ARE GameDay and while I don't always agree with what they say, I tune in every Saturday, every season. Just hard to believe they are going to be in Boone - Such an honor
