2013-2014 Schedule

Unread post by AppHoops » Mon Aug 12, 2013 3:33 pm

Here's the link for the new schedule.

Looks to be pretty favorable for Capel. Lots of game on here he can win. The team has big games against NC State, Georgia and Cincinnati along with the usual conference powers (minus CofC who left).

I think it could be a good year!

OOC TEAM 2013 RPI

NCSU 33
Campbell 289
Cincy 50
Lees Mc. D2
NC Central 155
UGA 140
Milligan D2
N. Greenville D2
UNCC 68
Winthrop 267
PC 340
UMKC 284
Bluefield D2
Duquesne 227

14 OOC games, 4 are D2, 5 more are RPI 250+, the SoCon south team we play twice is Citadel

This schedule is weak, plain and simple. 9 easy wins OOC, go .500 in the SoCon, that is a 17-13 record. With a schedule like this anything worse than 20-10 will be disappointing.

That's the most D2 teams to appear on the schedule. Some interesting games but again most of those will be away from Boone.

Home schedule includes those powerhouse schools...

Mizzou-KC
N.Greenville
Milligan
Bluefield
Campbell

It's so obvious what's going on here. Contract renewal time! He'd better have a good year with this crAPPY schedule. Home attendance will average 800 maybe!

I dunno, he'd better watch out for that Bluefield outfit! Whee, road trips to NC Central and Presby! Likely trap games!

What happened to that long-promised, previously agreed-to, annual, home & home revival with East Tennessee? That would have been a drawing card in time!

I will award props for the UNCC game! I'll drive up for that one!

Last October, I did a blog about App's terrible non-conference home scheduling.

4 our of 7 this year. 30 of 71 in the Holmes Center era. :o

Capel better have a winning record against D1 teams this year (i.e. five games over .500 overall). Anything else and he should be gone. Final year of his contract and going into a new conference, we don't need a coach who wins half of his games and graduates half of his players.

Anything less than 22+ wins and a trip to the conference Finals should be unacceptable. I wouldn't normally say that, but when you put out a schedule like this the win total has to go up.

We could win 22 games but with this schedule it is no guarantee to make the conference finals. Heck the best team in recent ASU history didn't make the conference finals. I will agree that the schedule (especially the home portion) is pretty disappointing. :(

This pathetic schedule is another attempt by Cobb to make his hiring Capel not look like the complete joke it is. And they wonder why people do not go to games.

Hey guys, no smack intended at all, but how hard will it be to get tickets? Do I need to look for the single game sell date ahead of time and call that morning, or will they be available at the gate on gameday? I think our game will be pretty packed, and I'm looking forward to it!

About as hard as it is to any App or UNCC game, walk up 5 minutes before the game and buy a ticket, no smack intended.

Makes sense to me. 30 minutes from my home, would like to sign a baseball series as well.

Our OOC football schedule will look similar once we jump up in my opinion.

Solid work, Charlie.

I think we'll see 8 Sun Belt games, one home FCS opponent (Big South or worse), two home and home type games with a MAC or CUSA teams, and one money game.

I'd love to see it myself. A lot of people don't understand the situation our baseball program was in before. Being in a more regional league will hopefully allow us to play a few more (well maybe even one) out of conference series on the road. I don't know why we haven't been playing mid week games all along.

How do you figure? OOC games against Montana and McNeese have been great, but NCCU, A&T, and Savannah St? You can't go much lower regardless of subdivision. You'd trade Wake or ECU at home for Jacksonville? Not to mention in conference games being 100x better.

It's also worth mentioning that Charlie presided over the past era of OOC, which apparently are even par in your opinion, not just the future ones as we enter the FBS.
