I agree that it will be close and JMU could win, but not for ANY of the reasons stated in that ridiculous articleukappfan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 1:50 pmLol now that is some nice satire.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 12:28 pmJMU thinks they will blow App out!

Re: On To The Next One - JMU Discussion
Just watched 1st quarter of their MTSU game. Their QB is Dangarus...no scores will watch the rest later.
On a side note the stadium was only 2/3 to 3/4 full. Would have thought it would have been pack first game moving up and all. Not much noise from the crowd either.
None of those kids have ever been to the Rock. Will be interesting to see if crowd noise will impact them any.

We have trouble with passing QBs tooAppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 6:55 amI look at JMU much like I looked at us after two games. We score 61 at home and lose, then go on the road and score 17 and win. JMU played an average at best MTSU offense and a bad defense. Norfolk State is a bad FCS team. So I’m having difficulty in assessing how they will do with their first conference road game. Their QB is good and we have trouble with running QBs. Their coach is very good and he will have them ready. This is a huge step up over their first two opponents. Our OL has shown that they can handle some good DLs so far. We should be able to run on them. Their fans are like us in that they are concerned with the secondary. Control the clock and make them stop the run and then beat them over the top. Should be a fun game.

I’m all for motivating the team no matter what but that article is tongue in cheek. Made me chuckle a few times

That article is, and was meant to be, a joke with some hope sprinkled in...nothing more nothing less. They are well aware of our tradition of winning, especially at home.

Re: On To The Next One
True. No doubt about that. But going back to my original post, can we really say that JMU is good? Not saying that they may not be, but their body of work consist of a victory over a 2-1 MTSU. Those two wins are against two 0-3 teams and a 0-3 FCS. So while they have looked good, you have to question why they looked good.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 3:16 pmWe have trouble with passing QBs tooAppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 6:55 amI look at JMU much like I looked at us after two games. I have zero doubt that they are well coached, but this is a huge step up in competition this week for them. We need to bring our “A” game or it could be a long day.

i would say the 2 wins jmu had are very impressive...44-7 over a well established FBS MTSU team..i was honestly shocked when i saw that score...but i feel confident we will be ready

If you read that article and are seriously upset by it, that says more about you and your Inability to take a joke than anything else.
That being said, I'm all for Clark taking quotes out of context to motivate the team.

Re: On To The Next One
Are they eligible for a bowl game this year or is it next year?AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 9:02 pmWe hope not. They are not a typical transition team. Remember that the league and NCAA granted them an exception to be classified in year 2 of transition because they already had close to 85 scholarship players due to COVID. They have a good QB and are a FBS caliber roster for most part. They went 12-2 last year losing to NDSU in the semi-finals. They are probably the most talented team in FBS transition in a long time. Their roster is better than ours was when we were in our first year up.
The hype over this game is exactly why everyone was excited about adding JMU, Marshall and ODU.
A colleague from work, who is a Charlotte alum, was telling me how he thought JMU was an up and coming program and would be a good test for App. Wow, do those folks not have a clue. I tried explaining to him that JMU has a rich history as a FCS program silimiar to App and Ga Southern and that if they would have hung out longer in FCS then they would have learned that fact....and may have more than one season above .500.

Re: On To The Next One - JMU Discussion
The article was kind of funny. The writer referred back the 2nd or 3rd game of 2008 when they beat us. Completely irrelevant of course. I get a vibe that they are very confident that their transition will be seamless. The portal has and will greatly affect college football. Picking up a key free agent here and there is bigger than I originally thought. You have to figure that most guys who transfer do so because they didn't get playing time. Of course there are exceptions like Chase.

Re: On To The Next One - JMU Discussion
JMU is going to beat someone they "shouldn't" in the SBC and as they adjust to the FBS depth could be a factor later in the season. This is as fresh as they'll be all season, buckle up.
