Re: Coach Clark GA Tech
Clark ain't going there. My best guess would be Deon Sanders. So much makes sense for him to go there. He could change the whole dynamic between UGA and Tech.

Re: Coach Clark GA Tech
Chadwell is the favorite as of now. His offense is the kind of offense that can do well at Ga Tech. I just don't think Ga Tech will want to deal with the inevitable sanctions with the hire.
Not having an AD may help Chadwell if he gets hired before the AD does.

For an extra ~$3 million a year? I think I could do it.MrCraig wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 2:12 pmIf he takes that job he's as dumb as some people on this message board think he is. Also he could live in the city easily on that salary. No reason to commute in!diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 7:19 pmFor an extra ~$3 million a year? That's funny- the commute. Yep that's a huge consideration when offered like $4m per.AppInDC wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 7:42 pmAlso he could live in the city easily on that salary. Haven't you read between the lines on the Tech vacancy announcement? Head football coach must establish residence in Buckhead.

Currenlty we both can afford Clark and he wants to be here. If you haven't noticed how much he has grown, matured and improved as a HC since the date he was hired then you haven't been paying attention. Does he need to get better? Yes...Don't we all though?
Finally someone who can look at our coaching situation objectively.
Also from the article: "But Clark's energy is undeniable, and it's clear he has the Mountaineers buying into his philosophy."
Evidently the writer wasn't reading this message board over the weekend after our loss to purple and white streamer college.

Lincoln Riley was a fool to go to USC. The traffic around Norman was surely lighter than Los Angeles!bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 7:56 pmThat's funny- the commute. Only way Elliott’s coming back up here is when the Panthers play at KBS or if he brings his fambly here on vacation.

Re: Coach Clark GA Tech
And he definitely will need to commute. USC is not in a desired part of the city. If the decision is based on where you live, he should have waited for the job in Westwood.AppInDC wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 8:36 pmLincoln Riley was a fool to go to USC. Re: Coach Clark GA Tech
From the Watauga Democrat, "In total, Clark is set to make $900,020 in 2022 before factoring in potential incentive compensations."
Collins was making around $3 million at Tech last year.
I know I sound silly, but I would absolutely trade roughly $2 million, rehabbing a dead program, and commuting on 75/85 everyday for life in the High Country, coaching at my alma mater, and coaching at a school with a winning tradition and culture.

Re: Coach Clark GA Tech
That is easy to say on a message board but ridiculous to say in real life. So what you are saying is that you would turn down generational wealth for your family because of your pride and attachment to a university. I would take that extra 2 mil every time. My priority in that scenario is giving my family the best future that I can. My alma mater university will be just fine. You should never put your pride before your family.MrCraig wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 6:25 amFrom the Watauga Democrat, "In total, Clark is set to make $900,020 in 2022 before factoring in potential incentive compensations."

Re: Coach Clark GA Tech
$900,000 isn’t chump change.
And taking that job isn’t necessarily choosing family over pride. In some instances it can work in opposite.

Re: Coach Clark GA Tech
Everyone has a process in making a decision and what is important to them. Being older and wise self, I take the $900K annually every time. That is enough.
Well, I take that back. I may need hazard pay for all the people calling for me to be fired or they believe I am not the right fit. I am a sensitive coach

Re: Coach Clark GA Tech
I'd say that almost 100% of the yahoos on this board (me included) have no concept of big time coaching and related salaries. Most of us won't earn $900k or more in a year and easily say we would take it and stay in Boone. It's got to be tough for guys in the "good to great" G5 bracket watching other coaches from less successful programs getting paid.
