KBS In-Game Music
What do you think of the DJ music being played between snaps and during timeouts/breaks when App plays at KBS?

Re: KBS In-Game Music
Honestly, i think it’s an upgrade. Am I a fan of all the music played...No. Does it keep the crowd, especially the students engaged...Yes. Our student section is top notch, and I love it.
I miss hearing the band, and I believe they need to be in the end zone where everyone can hear them. Overall though, I think this was definitely the right move.
GO APPS!!

The music is whatever, but they need to let the band play during game action and save the DJ for timeouts.

Re: KBS In-Game Music
Also halftime show needs to be modified- band can do it!!! Can the band director?
Why the change from pre-game band show spelling/yelling out ASU to APP -- not the same, not a tradition!!!
The band deserves far more to perform!!! They are worth it!!!

Seems like someone on here said we are not ASU anymore. We are App State.

Part of our Sunbelt deal was a rebrand to App State. It’s because Arkansas State uses ASU. I’m guessing the folks at the Belt home office finally made us make the change.

All I know is I'm not yelling out "A Pee Pee!!" when the band lines up that way now.
The music is good but the acoustics of our stadium suck or our speakers suck, maybe both.

DJ has been a great addition to the gameday experience. Just the fact that he isn't playing the same 3 songs over and over again is an upgrade in itself
I do wonder for hoops season if we will utilize a DJ for some of our bigger home games, would be a good way to add more energy to the student section!

Sun Belt aren't requiring the change. We, as an University, are spending tons of time trying to rebrand as App State instead of ASU.
There are too many ASU's. Only one App State. It's a smart move but going to be hard to implement.

I thought it was required by the Sunbelt but I could be wrong. With the exception of the ASU by the band I would pretty much say the transition is done. Funny I was just thinking Saturday how good some of the new “App State” merchandise looks.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 11:59 amSun Belt aren't requiring the change. We used a DJ for Basketball Season last year. The Pep Band was almost invisible in regards to how much they played vs. the DJ. I'm good for football, but want more Pep Band for basketball (or just go all DJ)HurricaneYosef wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 8:58 amDJ has been a great addition to the gameday experience. Our overall athletics brand had to change for SBC, but the entire university is making a concerted effort to rebrand as well.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 12:21 pmI thought it was required by the Sunbelt but I could be wrong. Re: KBS In-Game Music
Why not have our Band of Distinction play for timeouts as well. Those kids have to practice hard all week then have a stinking DJ play music instead of our band. In addition, our university and (some students) spend small fortunes on all those instruments and uniforms. One tuba alone (sousaphone) can easily cost 6 to 10 grand.
As to disc jockeys, we are not having dances in KBS. Can them. Save the money.

I don't have a problem with that either, but it's a longer time period and I think today's younger folks want some music other than the band.NewApp wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 1:15 pmWhy not have our Band of Distinction play for timeouts as well. Larger instruments (drums, pit, sousaphones, etc.) are usually property of the school. Smaller instruments are usually the horns players owned in high school. While I’d rather have more band, a balance is fine. Truth be told, the kids probably appreciate the break.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 3:18 pmI don't have a problem with that either, but it's a longer time period and I think today's younger folks want some music other than the band.NewApp wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 1:15 pmWhy not have our Band of Distinction play for timeouts as well. Part of what makes the acoustics for music suck is what helps make our stadium super loud.
