Scheduling The Citadel Again
You can bet your last dollar, so to speak, that The Citadel won't schedule us again. For better or for worse.

They will. They got what they should have gotten. And like VNova said, someone else will.

Re: Scheduling The Citadel Again
We have no reason to schedule them any more now that Georgia Southern doesn't run that middle school offense any more. That is the only reason we scheduled it to begin with -- to warm up for the stink.

Speculation or fact?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:45 pmWe have no reason to schedule them any more now that Georgia Southern doesn't run that middle school offense any more. That is the only reason we scheduled it to begin with -- to warm up for the stink.
How would we have known that The Citadel would still run this same offense when we scheduled it, or Georgia Southern for that matter?

It would be a payday for them to schedule top tier G5. Not sure what we paid them. I'm sure it's not P5 money but I'm sure they got paid well just like we did vs TA&M

It's speculation. Of course you don't know what the future holds, but considering their history of running it, them being a military school, and inability to get to top tier talent (due to military school aspect), I'd put money they'll be running it if we play them again./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 6:07 pmSpeculation or fact?AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:45 pmWe have no reason to schedule them any more now that Georgia Southern doesn't run that middle school offense any more. It is a fact that Gillin wants to schedule in state FCS programs as much as possible.

Would rather schedule in state FCS teams.
I know some will disagree with that but I’d rather our FCS team always be Gardner Webb, Elon, Western, or UNC Charlotte.

Toss in A&T, NCCU, UNCW, Campbell, & Davidson before UNCC. Might as well make it a challenging FCS team.

A&T, Central and SC State are all great fan bases. I suspect that who we get is whomever will come up for the $300 to $350k that we have been paying....

I was hoping you were onto something or speaking facts, because I was going to suggest we schedule a FCS school with a mobile QB since we struggle in that area.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 6:15 pmIt's speculation. I’d much just rather schedule an easy win./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 7:07 pmI was hoping you were onto something or speaking facts, because I was going to suggest we schedule a FCS school with a mobile QB since we struggle in that area.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 6:15 pmIt's speculation. Re: Scheduling The Citadel Again
Doubtful Davidson will schedule us. They would go into the game knowing that they would get trounced. Not just because they are small and anemic but also that they are non-athletic scholarship (I seem to recall). They had rather they be a small fish in a small pond than a small fish in an large pond. Just all opinion but still.

Western Carolina is on record saying that if they have to come to Boone to play, they "ain't" coming.

Re: Scheduling The Citadel Again
I misspoke on that one, but thought it'd be funny to keep it in as a team to play before UNCC.

Let's not laugh too soon. They will eventually have a very strong team...once in a while.

They “ain’t” shown up in Boone in nearly 40 years.
