Robert's doesn't have that breakaway speed, but he keeps his shoulders square and his vision is great

First home shutout since 2015. Happy to see that. Both sides of the ball played well considering the opponent.
I know these types of games are common place, but I'm a little embarrassed that this game was scheduled and that we also have Robert Morris coming to town.

Not sure who else could have taken Marshall's spot on such short notice.RankinApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:26 pmFirst home shutout since 2015. Happy to see that. Both sides of the ball played well considering the opponent.

I’m just glad we got a game to keep us in rhythm.VNova wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:29 pmNot sure who else could have taken Marshall's spot on such short notice.RankinApp wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 5:26 pmFirst home shutout since 2015. Yeah, I get it. These things happen, and sometimes you gotta schedule who you can get.
Still it's not much fun as a fan beating up on El Cid or any other overmatched FCS team.

For me, it timing of the opponent. Every school has easy opponents on the schedule. Would have been nice to have one or two within 1st three games to get some live game action before you get to the tougher opponents

I hope the team had enough time to recover with this game, but also gained that confidence we had so we can run the sunbelt from here on out.

Agreed! Funny because I wrote 10x and thought I was exaggerating so I edited down to 5 before I posted. These guys can definitely run and are gonna be as good or better than those we just lost.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 3:52 pmWe must be watching two different teams and listening to two different staffs...
These WRs, overall, are getting more separation because they have speed and can run all the routes.
I do maintain we can’t get too excited like this score is a shock. I posted in prediction thread a blowout if we don’t have a bunch of injuries and we have our stuff together. Citadel is really bad and we see a QB that a prior staff missed badly on who should be coaching instead of playing.
I’m glad to see this though and hope Shawn has learned to never take the foot off the gas. If this final is 38-17 or something I would be disappointed. I hope to see a couple other QBs and a lot of players get playing time with a 50+ win.
We need to use this month to get sharp and make statements because regardless of how good we look now we know that November will be 5x harder than October.

The thing I liked about Roberts is his pass pro.

I need to go back to watch again (and we need to see a little more), but on first glance, he reminds me a little of Marcus Cox.

Roberts 10 yards per carry average. He's shifty and quick. He blocks hard.

If nothing else we got real-time experience on things that needed to be worked on and over a quarters worth of gametime experience from ton of others for the future. Time to start looking at TX State

Me too. Doesn't have the same speed though. But he "lumbers" and can run through a tackle better than the other guys ahead of him (seemingly).
