Just follow the replies on this…it seems we’re missing the team aspect of being a team, guys aren’t playing for each other like you would expect on a so-called player-led team. Our leaders need to step up, whether that be coaches or players.

Re: Vent Here
Don't know if it has been mentioned but I believe we are going through what happens when you have 3 head coaches in 3 years (Satt-Drink-Clark), 5 OC's in the last 5 years, and the COVID year in the middle of it all. Lack of consistency with recruiting and player development has put us where we are today. We've lost our traditional depth at many positions, and with the recent senior class that graduated we just haven't been able to "reload" like normal. Add injuries to the mix of already thin rotations and position groups and no on the field coaching/play calling will solve the roster issues. I do believe the ship will be righted, and that bailing on this staff for another coach would just delay that process even more.
Clarks 4th and 5th years we should see that consistency and depth at key/ALL positions

Don’t forget about coaching turnover at CB. We only have 1 guy that was recruited to play CB between 2018 and 2021 left on the roster.HurricaneYosef wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 7:12 amDon't know if it has been mentioned but I believe we are going through what happens when you have 3 head coaches in 3 years (Satt-Drink-Clark), 5 OC's in the last 5 years, and the COVID year in the middle of it all. Re: Vent Here
Lets give the coaching staff a full recruiting cycle before any axing takes place. There has already been so much turnover in the last 5 years. Are there some concerning things happening? Yes - But as stated in a couple of posts these last 3 years have been unusual to say the least. Brand new HC trying to navigate through the VID, multiple coaches leaving - players not panning out from previous coaching staffs etc...Remember 9-3 10-4 the first 2 years. So far this year has not gone the way everyone wanted...I get it ( no one is used to this). I'm sure if the season keeps going the way it is there will be changes but I highly doubt HC will be one of them. ( and it shouldn't be)
Seasons not over - Let's see improvement each game - (my biggest thing is can the coaching staff rally the troops and light a fire under them)
Hopefully some of the younger guys step up and thought the TP we can solidify some of the major needs going forward.

Re: Vent Here
Maybe not a FIGHT fight, but a very large shoving match. I didn’t notice this when I watched but ADG is right. ONE white jersey comes to stand up for his teammate. This should’ve been a huge dust up that resulted in multiple (hopefully offsetting) personal foul calls.AppinVA wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 9:43 pmThis might sound odd to some, but that should’ve resulted in a fight.ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 9:28 pmJust follow the replies on this…it seems we’re missing the team aspect of being a team, guys aren’t playing for each other like you would expect on a so-called player-led team. Re: Vent Here
I'm not blaming our last two conference losses on officiating, however, Sun Belt officiating is beyond terrible. The official in the above clip shouldn't even be allowed to officiate a pee wee game.

Im still whizzed over the ref who blew the receiver interference call in the JMU game. It cost us momentum when we needed it.

Re: Vent Here
I'd like to see some of the available alum like AE, TL, Zac, Jalin Moore, Middleton, Henni, Fehr, Demarco, Duck, etc come to Boone and have a little "chat" with the locker room. Perhaps it would fire up the troops who are not "giving their all", or show them the transfer portal.

Re: Vent Here
The "powers that be" from the conference have determined it was a missed/error call. As far as the TxSt game goes, without a doubt our players need to be more disciplined. However, the officiating did contributed to the game "getting out of hand" at times, definitely unbecoming of any officiating at this level.appstate77 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:51 amIm still whizzed over the ref who blew the receiver interference call in the JMU game. Re: Vent Here
I thought as that happened, well we get a first down on a taunting call. I sure hope we lodged a formal complaint with the SBC office. That was awful. And as has been said it was a strategy that worked for Texas State.ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 9:28 pmJust follow the replies on this…it seems we’re missing the team aspect of being a team, guys aren’t playing for each other like you would expect on a so-called player-led team. That’s cool but these conversations need to happen with the current leaders of this team.appstate77 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:56 amI'd like to see some of the available alum like AE, TL, Zac, Jalin Moore, Middleton, Henni, Fehr, Demarco, Duck, etc come to Boone and have a little "chat" with the locker room. Re: Vent Here
Isn't that what the transfer portal is for? I know it's hard to find instant plug and plays, but with our winning tradition and culture the portal should be a benefit to us. If our secondary room looked this bad on paper 8 months ago, you think we would go out and add more than 1 juco CB...not rocket science. He's had plenty of time with the portal to add pieces, depth and starters.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 7:34 amDon’t forget about coaching turnover at CB. PS- I know we lost a lot on defense and offense last year, but we also returned a ton of talent...not sure how we are lacking in so many KEY positions (all positions are key) right now.

Im good with this! If the guys who have been there and are stakeholders in "the culture" have a say, I think it stands a good chance of being heard..AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:25 amThat’s cool but these conversations need to happen with the current leaders of this team.appstate77 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 8:56 amI'd like to see some of the available alum like AE, TL, Zac, Jalin Moore, Middleton, Henni, Fehr, Demarco, Duck, etc come to Boone and have a little "chat" with the locker room. Re: Vent Here
I may be wrong as I do not track it as much as others. didn't we go to the portal? One individual (from Liberty I believe) did not work out and probably best for us given how he departed...and another player elected not to play due to injuries, etc. Just a couple of examples.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:34 amIsn't that what the transfer portal is for? With that said, the portal is here to stay and every team is going to have to be active regardless of what the current players on a particular team believe. My overall hope is that we can keep it to 5 to 10 a year due to kids that come to us out of high school develop so we do not need the portal like some schools getting 20 to 30 kids a year.

Re: Vent Here
We did hit the portal hard looking for missing pieces of the defense. An issue that repeatedly came up is that App would not accept credit hours for many of the kids we wanted to bring in so they couldn't come here. We did bring in some DB and DL but clearly not enough. We have a lot of freshman DBs that are learning and if we keep them around will be really good in the years to come. I know that doesn't help us now, but it is where we find ourselves.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:34 amIsn't that what the transfer portal is for? Re: Vent Here
At the beginning of February, APP has a transfer potential starting CB from WF and and potential CB starter From Livingstone. The WF transfer Decommitted in March and the D2 player decommitted and went to Kentucky (SEC) around the same time. Trying to find potential replacement that late is difficult. If you have followed some other threads potential transfer have a difficult time with admissions at APP (for some reason ALOT of credits are not accepted for what ever reason - until this is fixed its a deterrent for transfers). Also previous coaching staffs have missed on some recruits. You just can't "add more " when the talent pool isn't there late in the process.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 9:34 amIsn't that what the transfer portal is for?
