Prep for CCU
Starts tomorrow. Get the defense watching film tomorrow and prove that we can defend against an accurate QB.

Re: Prep for CCU
We just need to run all over them. Their run defense is suspect, ODU put up 323 on them with their lead back going for 259 on 19 carries with 3 TDs. No reason we can't do better than that against them.

Re: Prep for CCU
If we control time of possession by running the ball on long drives and keep their O the field we will beat them. Also if we can get pressure on McCall without blitzing it would help our questionable secondary.

Re: Prep for CCU
Our Dline couldn't get pressure on a dead raccoon on the side of the road. That's the issue.

UM... ARE YOU NOT AWARE THAT THERE IS ANOTHER GAME BEFORE WE PLAY COASTAL?!?!?!?!?!
WE CAN'T TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED!!!!!
WE HAVE TO GO 1-0 EVERY. WEEK.
WE CAN'T UNDERESTIMATE ANYBODY!!!! THAT'S WHAT THE "BIG BOYS" DO TO APP!!!!
ANY GIVEN SATURDAY COULD BE A WIN OR A LOSS IF WE AREN'T PREPARED. WE HAVE TO FOCUS ON ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY!

Re: Prep for CCU
Over the last, say 25 years of App football how many absolute shocking losses have we really incurred? VMI (when was that) is constantly mentioned. Pretty much any program outside of a few have probably laid an egg a few times over the same time period. I watched a little bit of RM V Campbell. I ain't playing in the game so I'll say we can look past them a little. We will take care of them pretty quickly and easily and the bench should get emptied.

Re: Prep for CCU
If we can't count this one as a W then we don't deserve to be FBS. I don't normally say that but we better be able to show up and out talent this team. That is the sole reason we put them on our schedule. I am not saying don't prepare for them but I am saying that with reasonable preparation, this team should come out and dominate. I do think this gives us some extra time to prep for Coastal. Take advantage of this situation.

Re: Prep for CCU
We’re playing Robert Morris because the Colonials are the only team in the country willing to play us in Boone on this date. They’re filling the out-of-conference spot vacated by Marshall when the Herd joined the Sun Belt less than a year ago. We’re fortunate to be playing football on Oct. 29.

Re: Prep for CCU
I appreciate Robert Morris for wanting to play. It is actually optimal timing for us. We get two 10 day stretches in middle of season to get people healthy. I realize short week for beach Chickens after RM game, however I assume we are preparing for CCU while prepping for RM.

Re: Prep for CCU
It was good to see our D Ends in the backfield last night. I have been disappointed with that lack of pressure all year. Hopefully, after playing the first half of the season, the Ends are learning how to get home. If they can start getting consistent pressure on passing downs, it will greatly benefit the entire defense. I am hoping last night was the start for our D Ends.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 9:20 amThey did last night

The VMI game was November 19, 1994 in Kidd Brewer. VMI, winless on the season, defeated App State 26-23 in overtime and denied App State the Southern Conference title as well as an automatic bid for the 1-AA playoffs. We ended up getting a bid and traveling to New Hampshire in the first round, winning 17-10. We fell to #3 Boise State in Idaho 17-14 in the quarterfinals.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 8:31 amOver the last, say 25 years of App football how many absolute shocking losses have we really incurred? The VMI loss handed Marshall their first outright conference title.
VMI had been blown out by an average of 35 points in their previous nine games before coming to Boone. ASU was ranked 10th in 1-AA at the time. Satterfield was 5-0 as a starter going into the game, but threw three interceptions, including one in the end zone on second and 7 in overtime to seal the victory for VMI. VMI finished the 1994 season 1-10.
I remember the VMI game very well as I was on the sideline taking photos.

I remember that day as well, I had duty (Coast Guard in Baltimore) that Saturday and followed the game via internet. Let's just say I've had better days.PoplarHillApp wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 11:16 amThe VMI game was November 19, 1994 in Kidd Brewer. Re: Prep for CCU
Hopefully the 1st team gets a very early day next Saturday. Get your reps - get the young kids some time and get out without injuries.
