I think a GaSo poster on AGS put it best:
"Price is an SEC talent on the field.... looks like he is an SEC talent off the field too."

Re: Sean Price arrested?
This will be a defining moment in Sattterfield's early coaching tenure. Scott has preached he isn't going to put up with any nonsense and I am interested to see how he deals with it. This is Price's second strike and a stern message needs to be sent. None of this selective game stuff either. Hard to figure this guy (Price) out. On the surface he seems like a polite, respectful young man but I'm wondering it that is a front and he's been playing everyone. Since the day he signed I've wondered how we got this guy from a area we very seldom recruit - only 20 miles from DC, who's team played in the state playoffs and was highly decorated track standout in DC for the high and triple jump. College coaches drool over kids with his speed and jumping ability that yet with all the good programs within 200 miles of Reston I don't recall Sean having any other offers. I hate to speculate but maybe they knew something we didn't.
Good timing with him being featured in the new issue of the Black & Gold newspaper.

No dispute with your post. However, we did get Beathard in the same class and he hails from the same neck of the woods. We also offered Darius Smith from South Lakes as well, but I believe he failed to qualify.Kgfish wrote:This will be a defining moment in Sattterfield's early coaching tenure. BTW, his offers out of high school were ODU, Montana, NH, and ASU.

Welp, that didn't take long before the vultures have descended from on high to start feasting.

Why not wait until the facts are known and the punishment is doled before completely picking the bones clean?

Ohhh maaaan. Sorry to hear this, guys. Trust me when I tell you that with all we've been through the last few years as Griz fans, we know better than any how frustrating crap like this is. We all understand college kids aren't perfect, and it's not unreasonable to say something along the lines of "There but by the grace of God go I".
And yet, I somehow managed to make it through an entire 4 (okay, 4.5
) years of college without spending any time in the backseat of a police car. And so did everyone I knew, as a matter of fact. And if I can do it, it can't be that difficult. With all of the advantages these kids have, it's frustrating to watch it happen to them.
I hope for the best for Sean. He's truly one fantastic player.

Re: Sean Price arrested?
there doesn't seem to be any "grey" area here, he was drunk in public, and he made it worse by being disruptive, whatever that is. SS has to come down hard on him, and NOW, not just select games ie Western, or Elon, first 4 games. The whole team is watching to see what SS is going to do, if he goes light, or selective games, then he has opened the door for other players to go out and see what trouble they can get into, without worrying about punishment from SS. Put a stop to this behavior, NOW!!

Re: Sean Price arrested?
If you've ever met him or if you follow him on twitter you know that he's really kind of a strange guy. I think he has a bad attitude regarding entitlement, but more so on the field than off. In fact, he's known to not really try on the field unless he thinks the opposing DB's are worthy of his best effort. (I know that's hearsay so take it or leave it)
I wouldn't even necessarily characterize his major maturity issues by his legal troubles either. Kids get busted in Boone ALL THE TIME -- good kids. The cops are nazis. Even an upstanding gentleman like myself had a run in while I was in undergrad
, granted I didn't have a million dollar signing bonus hinging on by law abiding behavior.
Regarding SS's suspension timeline, I fully expect he'll get the two game, this time with no selective application. This is his second strike. My main concern is his seemingly inevitable third and final strike if this behavior pattern continues. I would support kicking him off the team in that case, as much as it pains me to say. Even a first round NFL draft pick shoe-in like Price isn't worth compromising the integrity of the program, and I agree with the previous post about this being a defining situation for Satterfield.

Re: Sean Price arrested?
From the way the incident was described to me, Price was at a gathering where a fight broke out. Price was not involved in the fight. When police arrived and attempted to break up the fight and disburse the crowd, Price began jawing. Police asked him to shut up and leave. Price failed to comply in a timely manner and was arrested on what amounted to a drunk and disorderly charge ("intoxicated and disruptive" was the term they used). Now, for any of us who've seen these kinds of situations, there is usually room for interpretation: Was Price being belligerent? Or were the police being heavy-handed with a situation that had long since been defused? Or is the truth -- as so often is the case -- somewhere in between? I don't know. I wasn't there. Neither were T-Dog and Gonzo. A police report gives a very narrow view of what actually happened. That's why we have courts with impartial judges and juries to sort out these things. Until then, can we put away our pitchforks.

I just hope his $100 bail wasn't borrowed for 5 days from the mother of another player. I'd hate to see the ncaa put App on a 3 year probation.....

I'm not going to throw anyone under the bus. BUT, WHY was one of our scholorship athletes out intoxicated in public? The details will get sorted in time, I'm sure.

Re: Sean Price arrested?
Having read the police report, there was no mention of any fight or altercation (whose relying on hearsay and jumping to conclusions again?). However, a few direct quotes from Price in the report raised some eyebrows with me. I won't get into them. It's public record if you're curious, but a charge is a charge and the protocol of the team regarding pending criminal charges dictates suspension. I am about the farthest person you will ever find to to a police-supporting witch hunter, but I have familiarized myself with the facts. Fact being the alleged actions on the police report and how they will inevitably effect Price the football team.AppGrad78 wrote:From the way the incident was described to me, Price was at a gathering where a fight broke out. Re: Sean Price arrested?
I wasn't trying to convict Sean before due process was done. I was trying to say what could happen, not what would happen. Of course everyone is due their day in court and Sean will have his. The charges could be upheld, reduced, or dropped and that will be decided in court but the fact that he put himself in a situation where he could be arrested is something I wish he hadn't done. I know kids will be kids and quite a few college kids especially seem to have a gene embeded in their system. I know I did.
One fact has not come to light that could make a difference. Since he was charged with I & D I would like to know if a breathalyzer was administered (in my past I couldn't charge that without one). It should have been for that charge, unless things have changed since my days in LE. Usually smell and a field sobriety test or Alco Sensor is not enough. If he had any alcohol in his system at 20 years old then that's underage drinking at least. Pretty much the norm on a college campus where the drinking age is 21 but for a student athlete who has had past troubles that can be an issue and one that could weigh in whatever happens.
Regardless he will have his day in court and Coach will have his say in due time. And we will all talk about it before, during, and after. None of that is in question. The rest, well, we'll see.

Re: Sean Price arrested?
Remember, Price was suspended two games last year for a charge that was dismissed before the season began. Yes it was a different coach in charge, but Scott has pledged to be tough on players.
Also, he could have been cited for underage drinking which in court carries more penalty lot than the charge he got.

I'm just curious what one hopes to glean by following the twitter account of a teenager or college student. What's up with that?Gonzo wrote:If you've ever met him or if you follow him on twitter you know that he's really kind of a strange guy. Re: Sean Price arrested?
Satt has to get this one right. I don't envy him. As always, there are three sides to every story; Price's side, the other side and the truth. Hopefully that will be sorted out in court. What isn't in dispute is that Price made a very stupid and very selfish decision. Regardless of the outcome of whatever legal proceedings there are, there seems to be enough evidence from past history and from this situation to warrant a significant suspension.

Re: Sean Price arrested?
What a dumb F**k. He did not get to play last year against ECU due to suspension in the opener and would have been a difference maker.
Despite his great physical skills, let's just go ahead and s**t can him he is clearly NOT a team player.
Don't have the tolerance for this anymore.

Re: Sean Price arrested?
Idiot. And where were one of his level-headed buddies to pull him out of there before he started mouthing off to the cops? Probably drunk too. He needs a baby sitter I guess. I'd go heavy with the suspension to set a precedent. Maybe 4 games since there isn't much to play for anyway. I know, I know, pride, seniors, etc.

Re: Sean Price arrested?
Unless there is something very surprising that we don't know, this shows a complete lack of respect for Coach Satt, the team, and the entire program. I'd suspend him for the first four and make him carry water and pick up jock straps after practice until he realizes the team is bigger than him.

Re: Sean Price arrested?
I had hopes that he would eventually be the first 1st round draft pick out of App, but these fiascoes have probably already affected his stock.
We better sit him at least 4 consecutive games. I'm still uncomfortable with the fact that he played against Montana last year. I think that factored in to letting Coach Moore go to be honest. Disgraceful.
