Internet service at KBS
I think this has been discussed before, but Saturday really made me mad. Why can we not get internet service inside KBS. What happen to the guest wi-fi. I realize the wi-fi was hit or miss but it did give you hope. I could not get the ESPN or any other APP to load. Does anyone have an answer. I would like for someone to take this complaint to DG.

Re: Internet service at KBS
I’ve had the same problem at KBS.
While attending game at Clemson a couple years ago I was informed they spent a boatload of money to install whatever they needed at all the flag post around the stadium…. Connectivity was good.

Internet service for a 30k+ stadium is expensive.
There's no dedicated internet service at KBS for the entire crowd. There's campus WiFi, but KBS is at one end of campus and it's not designed for that many people.

Cell service is going to be bad when you pack that many people into a confined area. It is what it is, and it’s going to be difficult to convince cell providers to add coverage for only 6 or 7 days usage. Unless someone in the App family wins the powerball tomorrow night, this is what we will have to deal with for the foreseeable future.

The whole town is bad. Every time I hit the city limits coming in on 421 I can't get service most times. We tailgated on King Street for the Carolina game and I couldn't get service.

you can spend as much as you want and put in as many access points as possible, but at some point, you're fighting physics

Re: Internet service at KBS
It may be a first world problem. But, decent wi-fi is just as important to the fan experience as short concession lines, clean bathrooms, a good sound system, etc. The game management team has done a great job improving on previous years in regards to lines and concessions.
Today's sports fans expect to be connected. We need a better solution. (Also, scores from other games in progress has disappeared from the scoreboard this year. Many want to know what is going on around the country.)

Would you be willing to pay $10 a game for a paid wi-fi internet service?

It’s been frustrating to me too but have we gotten to the point that we can’t spend a few hours disconnected and enjoy a football game? There are many places I’ve been where a lot of people are packed in and there’s no data or Wi-Fi. I’ve been able to call and text (no pictures) just fine in KBS.

Separate question but why don't we announce scores at games all of the time? Used to happen all the time. Maybe no one in the booth can get on ESPN.

That's a good point. I saw several people struggling outside the west gate on Saturday. Always pre-load it before walking up.

I agree to a point. But, although I downloaded my tickets at home, somehow they didn't make it to my Wallet. So, I had to walk away from the East gate and fortunately was able to get enough cell signal to re-download.goapps93 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 7:56 pmIt’s been frustrating to me too but have we gotten to the point that we can’t spend a few hours disconnected and enjoy a football game? Also, we are being prompted to submit # photos for the scoreboard mosaic, but that's impossible from many places in KBS. Plus, at quarter break and halftime, I would like to check the other scores in conference and in region. When Sprint sponsored the Cup Series, they would bring in mobile trailers to boost cell reception. A Wi-Fi boost or better cell reception would be a plus.
I've learned to live with it. But, for others it's a part of the experience that may or may not be important in attending more games. I would hope it would be budgeted into the Stadium Expansion.

And cut away from our canned music selection?!? How dare you ask such a silly question.

Yeah, I’ve been wondering how folks are submitting photos.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 30, 2022 8:15 pmI agree to a point. I’m not sure what can be done. It’s not safe for that many people to use an open Wi-Fi network and I don’t know if a cell provider is willing to spend that much money on upping the service 6-7 days per year. We are certainly not NASCAR. Maybe we could make it part of a sponsorship deal. I’ve learned to live with it.
I do wish scores were announced more often and included on the video board.

I may be in the minority but I enjoy 3-4 hours in which I can’t access my phone.

There are European football clubs that purposely reduce phone service to help create an even more intense crowd experience.
They want their fans engaged with the gameplay, not Facebook.

Re: Internet service at KBS
For the life of me, I don't understand how you miss on announcing other scores at the end of each quarter and how you don't post statistics when we have a long TV timeout. I feel certain we could get that done fairly easily and cheaply and it would improve the Gameday experience so much. Just do scores from the Belt, other NC schools and maybe Top 25. We did it earlier in the year, but not so the last several games. And please, can we see someone other than Cancellor Everts sometime? It was painful watching her operate that t-shirt gun.
