Either you didn't read the entirety of my post or you're responding to others. A TERRIBLE defense is our biggest problem. BUT a turnover prone QB in BIG games is a not so distant second.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:14 amChase did a horrible job in pass coverage and tackling last night while on defense- wait he doesn't play defense.
He has the best arm talent we have ever had all things considered. Even the best QB's throw a bad ball or mishandle a snap. We are not even close to being in the game without his throws, couple of scramble runs and extending plays. To say we win or are closer without the PIC and fumble is insane.
The kid for coastal who torched us on the run and long passes was not contained. He was interfered with on the pass down the left side (our defender grabbed his jersey) or that's a score. He dropped the wide open deep ball or that's a score probably. Our backer barely grabbed at his heel on the run or that's probably a score or at least 20 more yards. Granted if Chase was a little faster it might open a few more options but he still can get the tough 10 when needed. To clamor for the backup QB when it's a defensive issue is ridiculous.

I'd like you to go back and watch the play that resulted in an INT...Chase was hit as he threw which affected his release and power which resulted in the INTteller wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 9:59 amHow about the fumble at the 5 yesterday and the INT returned to the 2 yd line? Lost by 7 and there's 2 field goals or better yet TDs erased because our QB can't make better decisions. But yeah, sure, he's the reason we're competitive. How about the reason we're NOT competitive?
I'd also like to point out to everyone else that reads this that had that INT not resulted in a TD a couple plays later the game would have ended differently. We may not have won but it would have been a tied game with less than 10 mintues left. Remember that as you reflect on the game.

Re: App St football = POOP
This program has major, major problems. Out of the last 11 games we’re 5-6. Remove two FCS wins and we’re looking at 3-6. Epically major problems on a historic level that we haven’t seen since the first year we moved up to the Sunbelt. It’s been very hard to watch and it rests solely on the lack of defense, not Chase.
It’s gotten so bad some feller named Tom and another feller from Bamboo Road’s about meet on Howard’s Knob for a dance off! Yee Haw!

Grayson McCall 75 TDs 7 INTs.
Chase Brice 70 TDs 35 INTs.
I didn't look hard enough for a fumble stat. I don't think Chase is a bad QB and his decision making has gotten better but here recently I may have thought he was a tad bit off. I actually attributed this to coaching issues.

Re: App St football = POOP
Lamb and Thomas played much more inferior teams than Chase has. They never beat a P5 like A&M. Brice has the better arm of those 3 but Thomas was the most mobile, and Lamb was the best at reading the defense.
As much as I think our play calling has been bad and coaching needs changes, if WRs don't drop balls and Chase does not miss a lot of open receivers we probably win the game.
A lot of changes need to happen but not sure what they all are. The Sun Belt is better but we are not and we have to get better. We can't just complain about the league improving and act like well let's just give up. I want to see our program rise and be the best in a good conference.
Gillin said a while back that the revenue will increase and we will be relevant if we win. It all hinges on winning and right now we aren't winning enough. Moving up was not a mistake but this should be a kick in the butt for us to raise our level of coaching, recruiting, play on the field, and giving by our fans.

If you think the int last night was on Chase, then I have to question if you actually watched the game. He was hit as he was throwing the ball, genius.

Re: App St football = POOP
Remove the Duke season from Chase's stats. Not fair to him to include those. Grayson has never had that type of OL and as much as he is beat up now he would likely be done if he took those hits. His shoulder is clearly not 100% and you can see how they call plays and manage his playing time but he is the best QB we have seen in the Sun Belt.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 10:52 amGrayson McCall 75 TDs 7 INTs.

Re: App St football = POOP
I’m amazed at the lack of objectivity shown by our fanbase.
Chase can make throws no QB at App has ever made and probably throws the prettiest deep ball as well.
Sure he’s not a runner, but to question his passing skill is a sign you don’t know much about football and looking for a scapegoat so you can stomach a loss. That’s on you not Chase, be better.

Chase completes throws Lamb or Thomas wouldn't have even attempted..
From a pure arm talent aspect, Chase is by far the best we've had in the black and gold. His decision making has got better as well.
It's hard for any QB to do anything when you don't have time to do anything. Our O Line is playing at a very low level right now. The only variable from last year is new coach.
Cardwell wasn't the best o line coach, but players would run through a wall for him. I'm not so sure that's the case for Wade... There's a reason Clark coached o line week of leading up to the Ga St game... Seems he needs to be doing it again until changes can be made.

Re: App St football = POOP
Chase made at least 2 passes last night that made me audibly say “damn, that was a really good throw”. Does he make the right decision every single time? Nope. Neither does Brady, Manning, Staubach, Montana, etc.
He’s light years ahead of most of the names mentioned in this thread when it comes to passing ability. I hope he knows that, and doesn’t listen to the morons who say otherwise.
He also seems like a genuinely good person, which is way more important in the long run.

Re: App St football = POOP
Know more about the game than you'd ever know. Also know that in a league as competitive (level parity) as the SBC this season, you're not going to win as a 1 dimensional QB. (unless your defense holds teams to a minimum, i.e. Troy) What's not objective with knowing the conference and what it takes to win?Saint3333 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 11:05 amI’m amazed at the lack of objectivity shown by our fanbase.

DEFENSE = is #1 problem. 1 dimensional QB = 2nd prob. Predictable play calling = #3
