Hate Week 2023
Final week of the season, and last chance to lock in a guaranteed bowl slot. While we do have a decent shot to make it with our current record, there’s a history of teams with two FCS wins (with 6 total wins) making a bowl due to a waiver and lack of 6 win teams, we can also block Southern from bowl eligibility with a victory.
The vitriol and crowd energy the boys will be playing in front of Saturday will out do every road game they’ve played this season. It’s an excellent opportunity to end the year on a positive, and also crush our bitterest rival’s dreams.

Re: Hate Week 2023
With a win this would be the first win against a capable passing QB all year. We should be able to run the ball so the game will be decided by the defense and particularly on 3rd downs.

This game will be decided by physicality and efficiency among other things. Hope we're up for it.
GS has always punched us hard to see what we are made of. Need to understand that we may need to score on every possession with urgency.
Limit mistakes.

Anyone have a history of "Stink". Never inquired when in school many years ago...it just always was and how it has always been..

Re: Hate Week 2023
We haven’t beat a team of this quality since September. Sorry, it’s just the facts. Considering how putrid we are on the road, I can’t wait for these lines to drop so I can put plenty on the Eagles. We are not capable of winning a game of this juncture right now.
Now please, go prove me wrong. I’m not believing it until I see it.

Re: Hate Week 2023
Wolf is a capable passing QB. His ratings and TD/INT ratios are similar to Vantrese. They just don’t throw it 45 to 60 times per game like GaSo.
We were beat on the deep ball some, but also had coverage sacks yesterday. Plus, our DB’s were aggressive in pass break-ups yesterday. Although we gave up a few long TD drives with our reserves in (except at CB), yesterday was the best game our secondary has played.

Re: Hate Week 2023
The deep pass down the middle to left of field was an issue versus CCU and ODU. I would rather have our risk be on long passes down the sideline. Dare them to have that versus the long pass over the middle. Easier said than done. Many SBC QBs are not accurate enough to hit that sideline route consistently IMO.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 10:18 amWolf is a capable passing QB. Re: Hate Week 2023
We definitely are not “there”. We had double coverage on their first TD and took a bad angle on the undercut. (Which was over the middle)BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 10:30 amThe deep pass down the middle to left of field was an issue versus CCU and ODU. But, we did make some plays and there were several plays where we held coverage forcing a sack or QB run

Re: Hate Week 2023
Our pass coverage is still awful. We got away with a few PI's and the slant killed us repeatedly. The late scores might not have been a biggie if we had kept our foot on the gas and actually put up another TD or 2. It's not just an App DB thing but it's ridiculous to see a guy doing his celebrating after getting burned and the ball is either dropped or overthrown. Before the game yesterday they decided to flash some stats for 2 of our DB's (passes broken up/defended). How about the number of passes allowed/burned on? If we bring consistent blitz pressure we can do something but a 3 man rush ain't gonna get it.
And for diehard guy why do you ask to be proven wrong with every post? How exactly is that accomplished?

Heading down for this big one as well. They are really banged up as are most teams this time of year but you know both teams will be up for this "lovefest"! Love traveling to Statesboro, especially if we get the W!

Yet we still lead the conference in passing yards allowed.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 10:57 amOur pass coverage is still awful. We got away with a few PI's and the slant killed us repeatedly. Just fyi, a lot of times, the completions on slants are not the DBs fault.

I watched a few minutes of southern vs Marshall. Southern’s pass D looked atrocious. We all know they play out of their minds against us, but I sure hope we take advantage of their secondary more than we did against coastal and Marshall.

Re: Hate Week 2023
I really think its more the lack of a pass rush than it all falling on the DBs. We did get to Wolf some yesterday but it seemed as the game wore on (not talking about when the back ups were in ) we got to him less and he had a lot of time to throw. One wonders if we had a healthy Hampton and Harrington what difference that would have made for our defensive performance.

I don’t know about this being the most vitriol that our boys have faced. Maybe this year but the Louisiana student section is one of the worst environments around.GSUwasGump’sFallbackSchool wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 8:30 amFinal week of the season, and last chance to lock in a guaranteed bowl slot.
