Re: ESPN3 to TV Connection
So ESPN3 is only avail. for certain cable network subscribers? When I try and get the player going at ESPN3.com it asks for my service provider and Direct TV is not one of the choices.

The answer is yes. I have Direct TV as well but I get ESPN3 because Charter is my internet provider.

I've been told going through the wireless connections on a Blu-ray player is an easy way to go.

Well dang...I have Time Warner internet, (I guess roadrunner?) and they do not count for ESPN3

Re: ESPN3 to TV Connection
Looks like Time Warner for internet would work.
I know it does for TV, but you will be on the internet.

I have charter but family and friends have time warner. You need to go to time warner dot com or whatever it is and have your bill handy. You need to sign up using your account info and create a login. Then use that login on espn3 one time to verify your account is eligible for espn3. You must have video service from twc for this to apply. Then subsequent logins need no verification.

Well, that's what I'm saying...I have Direct TV which doesn't offer ESPN3 and I have TWC internet which doesn't offer ESPN3. crazy...AppState wrote:I have charter but family and friends have time warner. you would think Direct TV would offer ESPN game plan on a per game basis, even if it was $10 or $15...

Re: ESPN3 to TV Connection
You know - I mistakenly lied here. It does require a computer to run some software in the background - I just never notice it because it is in the background and not front and center on the screen. http://www.playon.tv - PlayOn will put ESPN3 and Hulu (the free version) on your Roku and tv.TheMoody1 wrote:Yosef wrote:Spend $50 and get a roku. Simple to use and works great. Doesnt require a separate subscription (like xbox live) nor does it require a computer.
How did you get this to work with Roku? I have a Roku2 XD and I don't see ESPN3.
Check the sales. A lot of times if you buy a lifetime membership for PlayOn ($50) they will throw in a Roku for free (which is also another $50). I think this is a good investment for most folks as our move to the SunBelt will probably land us on ESPN3 more often for both football and basketball, though I have no facts to back that up.

In the past, I have ordered Game plan for a weekend. Not sure if you can still do that.APPRIDE wrote:Well, that's what I'm saying...I have Direct TV which doesn't offer ESPN3 and I have TWC internet which doesn't offer ESPN3. crazy...AppState wrote:I have charter but family and friends have time warner. TWC only lets you access ESPN3 if you have digital cable as well. Because their digital cable sucks, I have DirecTV also (though I am seriously considering "cutting the cord" and using Roku only). So, you can't get access through your TWC sign on. You need to find someone that has both TWC internet and cable, or someone with Uverse that will share their credentials.

If you have Xbox with whatever feature or subscription you do not need anything else except any internet connection I believe.

Re: ESPN3 to TV Connection
I did this two years ago. I can still watch every show I want to watch (when i want with no added dvr costs) and I've saved close to 1k a year. If you go this route and need help finding your programs let me know - I am happy to help. The hardest part is changing your habits around it. You will definitely want to get playon though.ASUMountaineer wrote:I have DirecTV also (though I am seriously considering "cutting the cord" and using Roku only).

My buddy has multiple Roku's for the TV's in his house so he's going to let me borrow it for a while to check out. I really think I'm going to do it, but I'm still under contract with DTV for the next few months, so I will probably let it roll for now. My biggest concern is sports viewing, but I will have access to ESPN3, plus over-the-air, so I probably won't lose too much. Have no doubt, I will probably be hitting you up for help in the coming months.

Do you know if any sports bars near Ocean Isle are showing the game?
