He might make one heck of a tight end.

The new reality is that you build your roster year by year . Our coaches have told me as much.

Just an armchair college football fan here....but....I don't like changing our offense for a portal transfer. I hope we set a style of football and execute. I don't want to change our offense and I don't want to change our defense. (Definitely wrinkles in both our base offense and base defense) We should build a plan and recruit to that plan. It seems like we changed our offense to fit Brice. I hope we get athletic quarterbacks that can make an easy pass and have the defense so confused with mis-direction and the quarterbacks ability to run. The quarterback only needs to complete wide open passes because the offense is a well timed beautiful piece of art that if all eleven players execute it always works. Same for the eleven on defense.

HCSC has admitted , in essence , the failure of what you outline.

I think it kind of went both ways. I believe the coaches wanted to open up more of a vertical passing game, and thus sought out Brice for his ability to do that. I'm sure they knew they were trading off some mobility in the exchange.

Whether that lack of mobility wound up hurting us more than they anticipated, only they know.

I think the Pro Style offense was put into motion by Drinkwitz. ZT's runs were down significantly during his last year. Just like Don Shula changed his offense when he drafted Dan Marino (and Jerry Moore did with change to the Spread), I think you adapt your offense to fit the strengths of your personnel. We had the wrinkles in for the first few games and for whatever reason, we went away from them in our play calling.

We will need to find guys that can get separation and be "wide open" first to run your offense. Not many "wide open" throws for our offense this year. We were forced to deliver passes in very small windows.

The wide open passes need to come from executing misdirection and RPOs and having to keep someone near the line of scrimmage from the threat of our quarterback taking off. If you watch our 3rd and long defensive struggles a lot were caused by a quarterback that "tucked and ran". It has to be part of a college offense. (my opinion)

By the way, I am not knocking Chase he throws an incredible ball and I hope he gets a chance in the NFL. He reminds me of an NFL quarterback....great arm. Give him some good receivers with speed and height and well coached, A line that gives him time and he may light some teams up.

Packpride message boards leaking that Leary is going to portal. This portal crap is MAYHEM. I hope we don't dabble in it too much, it's honestly just a headache and will ruin college football if it hasnt already haha.

Not trying to be snide, but honestly asking.....do we want a DB from UNC? He might be great, but as a unit they didn't perform well. Wasn't that one of their weaknesses? Chase torched them

I agree, and think this is what most really good teams do. Yes, you might shift slightly in play calling from year-to-year depending on personnel, but you get guys who match your style. We saw this with Satterfield and the stretch run, zone blocking, pistol formation offense. He still uses that offense at Louisville and has been pretty successful with it. I feel like App hasn't really had an offensive identity since Satt left.

One guy can set the tone for everyone. One guy routinely out of position or a step slow makes everyone else look worse than they are.

Some people believe the NIL was passed for the betterment of the players and that is the narrative pushed by ESPN and similar organizations.

Few realize it was passed to ensure those with power retain power as they use their deeper pockets to ensure it.

Things unfortunately are seldom done as true acts of kindness or fairness in society when the stakes are high or important to those in power.
While I agree with the general idea that things are rarely done as true acts of kindness or fairness, NIL didn't come from the power players in the game. The first state to pass NIL was California, hardly a hotbed of power football of late (yes I am well aware of USC's history), Florida was next in a 'keep up with the Jones' move, and then tons of other states followed. It was pushed by legislatures that really had no clue about how the money in college football fuels every other college sport but just looked at the pure numbers and thought it was wrong so they legislated that college players could profit from their NIL. If this was really passed to ensure those with power retained it, I think we would have seen the Alabama legislature do it first, followed quickly by Texas, Ohio, Michigan. Fact is that none of the power players were interested in changing anything because they were thriving in the old system as it was with no threat to their power or importance. I really think NIL was legalized by well meaning legislators who thought they were giving college kids a good deal. Now, the unintended consequences are that the rich are clearly going to get richer. Anyone who follows colleges sports could see this coming a mile away but I don't think it was the intention of the California legislators who started this mess.

Would make a lot of sense for him to follow Beck to CCU imo

Eh, he's primed for bigger ball than that. He needs to prove he belongs in NFL, I dont think you can do that at Coastal at QB.

I hope he doesn't end up at Coastal lol, dude can sling it.

I don't think NIL had to be legalized. It was already legal, just like it is for any other kid in school. It just took the Supreme Court ruling to open the floodgates. The only thing state legislatures are doing is trying to put up some guardrails.
