That sucked and was pretty much the same as the rest of the season. We'll see how next year goes. I'm confident we see growth and success because that's what Kerns has done with his players every year except this year. *I* think this year was an outlier and a rebuilding year. Time will tell.

We finish 16-16 on the year. Discounting all the non-D1 games, Kerns is 58-58 at App.

We played well , just not well enough .Samuel was the difference-he earned his money today , and the stripes let him play.As to the "attrition" , some guys bring baggage that they can't overcome , no matter what we do for them , others have family members that have "demands" .That won't fly at App. The Portal and NIL have impacted kids and programs in a major way. Not for the better. Get used to it.If you are wondering how USM and Marshall went from bad to really good , the answer is NIL .Word down here is their boosters are stepping up in the $50-100k range each for their all-conference players.

I love App Bball, but if we weren’t going dancing, I’m ready for this year to end. Most frustrating I can remember. I’m sure we will never hear what the heck was going on behind the scenes, but I believe the core enjoys playing for App and will be back next year. I can’t wait to see who we add, I think Kerns has a lot to sell recruits on. We just need 1 scorer.
Harcum, Mantis, X, Abson, Huntley is a great 5 to build from.

The ones that stay. I'm fearful we may see an exodus. Let's hope not because we are already losing a bunch to graduation and eligibility.MrCraig wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:48 pmThat sucked and was pretty much the same as the rest of the season. I believe that is a good core of role players. With the addition of 1-2 high major/high impact transfers: that core + 2 guys like Crowley / Haase at Southern Miss, could be all we need to see us back at the top of the conferenceCharlotteApp05 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:54 pmI love App Bball, but if we weren’t going dancing, I’m ready for this year to end. Southern Miss went from 7-25 to regular season champs. 16-16 to conference champs isn't that unrealistic. As mentioned numerous times this year, rosters are year to year now.

Is 6 before the season was over not an "exodus"? Haha, we do have to keep the 5 returners though. (Brown, Huntley, Harcum, Mantis, Abson).hapapp wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:56 pmThe ones that stay. Re: SBC Tournament - MBB vs South Alabama
Why is Kerns using scholarships on kids that "cant overcome situations"? Or family members that have demands? That's Kerns fault then. We are starting to see what the players say is going on, good to hear both sides of the stories to flush it all out. We aren't even paying football players that kind of money, no shot we come close to paying basketball players that coin.Stonewall wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:52 pmWe played well , just not well enough .Samuel was the difference-he earned his money today , and the stripes let him play.As to the "attrition" , some guys bring baggage that they can't overcome , no matter what we do for them , others have family members that have "demands" .That won't fly at App. The Portal and NIL have impacted kids and programs in a major way. I meant postseason. We were down to 8 scholarship players by season's end.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 3:14 pmIs 6 before the season was over not an "exodus"? Dude, unlike the football team, the mass exodus on the basketball team has been going on all season: Eads, whats-his-name the freshman, and now Walker. Something is wrong.ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:18 pmRemember when everybody said Clark had lost the locker room and to plan for a "mass exodus of transfers" at the end of the season and then that didn't happen because a very vocal extreme minority doesn't speak for the majority? That's just the way it is.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:02 pmWe need to take a long hard look at Kerns and the bball leadership. Every situation is unique but when there is this much unrest during a season, something isn’t right. Kerns has lost the locker room.
Look, I have zero information on what goes on in that locker room, but the guys on the floor seem to be playing hard and playing for each other and playing for their coach, our coach, App State's coach Dustin Kerns.

I have done the same thing in my businesses.Give someone with potential a chance , knowing that it's a risk.Put them in a position to suceed .Some do , some blow it.You hear about the bad apples , human nature. It has paid off overall. As to NIL , yeah I know that , but that is apparently what we are up against.More motivation to give a really talented kid a chance , as risky as that is.

Re: SBC Tournament - MBB vs South Alabama
Yes, there have been some transfers. That does not mean Kerns has lost the locker room. For the team I saw today, they played hard. In my opinion, Kerns played the better players on the team throughout the year. Just because you been here, doesn't mean you are guaranteed time on the court. The transfers in were better than the player on the roster. That is competition. In today's world...if you lose minutes, you have 71 people in your ear telling you grass is greener somewhere else and transfer. It is today's instant gratification society.

Re: SBC Tournament - MBB vs South Alabama
I am not passing judgment on the coaches, players, parents or anyone else because I have ZERO inside information. I watched parts or all of most games, never in attendance. My summation is I felt this team had more talent than an 9th place team, early tourney exit from a 1 Bid league

3rd player that has said this...T-Dog wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 1:33 pmDibaji is saying the commentator's news that he's out due to a knee injury is untrue and that "some things transpired with the program that didn't sit well with me so I stepped away from the team." Says he originally was going to Pensacola, but didn't.
Dibaji attended a funeral during the Georgia trip, which is why he missed those games, or so Kerns said.
