I believe Kerns sought this job previously, is it possible he pursues it again?

Yes. I'd wager to say it's likely.hapapp wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 12:20 pmhttps://www.johnsoncitypress.com/sports ... e55ef.html

It's a hard call for him to make when you sit there and see peer G5 coaches getting fired while having similar records/resumes.

Personally IMO...it comes down to how much more in compensation. If twice as much in compensation (for discussion sake), you have to do what's best for family....you compare the opportunity (has the program courting me had past success... unlike App) and compensation. ...to does App feel like home from an AD working relationship to the dept culture, etc. and I want to spend the rest of my life here...
Unless you are winning consistently like a Kansas, etc., no job is too safe in the current athletics environment around "what have you done for me lately" ...

Re: ETSU fires Coach
All fair. And given what could be a tremendous amount of roster turnover this year, do you exit when you can to avoid looking like a less attractive option next year?BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 1:43 pmPersonally IMO...it comes down to how much more in compensation. I'd agree with Bayou. If I'm Kerns sitting at home in Boone the first 2 weeks of March, I'm making like a turtle and definitely wouldn't be creating any waves to draw attention to myself.

Re: ETSU fires Coach
So I don't think he will leave. I think he is happy, but if we are speculating, I think he enjoys the high country and being closer to his hometown and his parents, so ETSU would be a better fit than Wofford.
And I actually don't think (Assuming we keep the 5-6 remaining key guys) that having roster turnover is bad this year. There has been a lot of speculation on the amount of players entering the portal, so every team will look different next year. I think we actually have a chance to be a top team next year in the conference. Word out of Marshall is they have collapsed, I think JMU is losing a lot....If I had to bet, I would say we are at least top 4 next year.

Circumstances change .Yes I believe they are happy in Boone .It isn't just DK .Family .The staff is very close. The closest I can remember here. I have never been by the office when at least one of them did not come out to talk to me and thank me for supporting the team. They are out on the road recruiting as I write this .Excited about the future. Now if a great opportunity for them comes about of course they will look at it .They should as would you or I .

Agree. In todays world of “Do what’s best for you.” You can’t teach kids to evaluate your situation and explore your options if you aren’t going to do the same.Stonewall wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 3:37 pmCircumstances change .Yes I believe they are happy in Boone .It isn't just DK .Family .The staff is very close. The closest I can remember here. Re: ETSU fires Coach
Both good to great programs. He went to Clemson, coached at Wofford so regionally Wofford makes sense. From East TN so that makes sense as well. As long as we retain Abson Harcum Huntley Mantis Brown we will be okay. Would like to see Coach stay but understand the money and easier to win situations.

Re: ETSU fires Coach
Some of you are misguided if you think he's happy to stay in Boone. He's had interest in or interviewed for a number of jobs that are anywhere from a lateral move to a small step up.
