I do not believe they have that option. Could be wrong.

If that is true then he is not happy here and isn’t 100 focused on giving his best for App.

Or its a guy that has been contacted for an interview and wants to take every opportunity to potentially advance his career -- which is a smart move and one anybody should make.

That was the CW on here when Coach Satterfield was trying to leave and did. Not saying I agree or not..just sayin'.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 9:31 pmOr its a guy that has been contacted for an interview and wants to take every opportunity to potentially advance his career -- which is a smart move and one anybody should make.

I don’t agree with this. You interview when there is an opportunity that intrigues you. I don’t view it as unhappy or disloyal, (my words, not yours). Coaching jobs that you value don’t open annually.

Re: ETSU fires Coach
That is correct, under the current staff, I don’t think they had options to return. Littleton just entered portal. Might be a sign Kerns is staying. Walker trying the G league route.

Re: ETSU fires Coach
I don't mind a guy interviewing. Hes not an App grad, I'd interview now and I'm very happy with my company.
I don't really see how the last 2 ~.500 seasons would get Kerns a +50% raise.
Saint is right we need to live in the top 150 and break 100 net though. If Kerns can do it for 2+ years and then get a big job with an actual upgrade, then i'd wish him well.

I would think he is nowhere near the top of anybody’s list that is looking for a coach.

Re: ETSU fires Coach
Here is my thinking process if I were an AD looking to hire a new coach and I am a mid-major trying to improve my program. Why would I hire a guy that has been at App for 5 yrs with a .500 record and is not on rise in last couple years?
Do I overlook his time at App and think he was good before App so he will continue at my school? Was something wrong at App that will no occur at my school?
Has this guy hit his ceiling? He was moving up at lesser programs but has peaked with current level of competition.

I think DK has a "higher ceiling" than our program does .The "support" is just not there .

More so the inappropriate use of the english language by some who use hyperbole and poor word choices to express themselves.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 12:53 pmNobody claimed a hire is imminent. All that was said is it would take $485k+ for Kerns to be hired at ETSU. That is still the case. Which is likely the reason, as of right now, he is not their main focus.
Still struggling with that reading comprehension?

Re: ETSU fires Coach
So is it fair to interpret your statement to mean that regardless of who we bring in, with current support, we are stuck as a .500 program? How did Buzz pull it off then? You are saying Kerns could do better but not here. I am scratching my head a bit thinking about the implications of your statement. Not necessarily saying you are wrong but, if so, we are screwed.

I know people don't like to hear it but I will continue to beat this drum...APPSTATE sports should embrace HIckory for our weekday games. Basketball included. If we can't sell more tickets and get support for our team in Boone we should explore the Hickory connection. I think it would be very smart of AppState to embrace Hickory with open arms. We need their money and their pull. The area between Boone and Hickory is going to continue to grow. 1 hour drive to Hickory from a large swath of population in NC...2 hours to Boone.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Wed Mar 15, 2023 11:52 amSo is it fair to interpret your statement to mean that regardless of who we bring in, with current support, we are stuck as a .500 program? Would that be fair to the students?
