I was actually really bummed about this. I've never watched him coach in person and was looking forward to it.

ETSU Bucs settle on former assistant coach Brooks Savage, who moves back to JC (from WFU) on the cheap after settling for a meager base salary of $202,000. Apparently the cash vault in the Buc Athletic Department has been looted by previous hires.
ETSU coach Savage to make 38% less than fired Oliver per WJHL-TV investigative report

Guess they changed their minds and decided to offer one third.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 11:46 am
Sorry you think salaries from this past season are the only comparison. Forbes was making north of $600k at ETSU. They can and will be paying more.
Not even a lateral move by some people's definition.
Cheers.

Yes, they did. Never said they wouldn't do that. You just interpreted it that way.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 12:40 pmGuess they changed their minds and decided to offer one third.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 11:46 am

I simply said if they want Kerns it's going to require a 50% pay raise. They didn't want Kerns at that price so it didn't matter. They did reach out to Kerns' camp, that was the number given to them (actually hire), and that was the end of the conversation.
I can't help how you interpret things.
And yes, at this point, if we were to hire their coach away at a 50% pay raise (to match what Kerns is currently making), it would not be a lateral move for that coach.

Stop using words you aren't willing to stand behind and then attempt to blame the reader's interpretation.
You stated: "They can and WILL be paying more".
Your interpretation of what ETSU was going to do proved inaccurate. Have a good one.

Re: ETSU fires Coach
Please tell me where I said they WILL pay more. I said multiple times I have no idea what they are going to pay because I don't know anything about ETSU athletics.
But I do know they have the ability to pay over $600k (as proven with Forbes) and if they were to hire Kerns it will take at least $485k.
That is all I said. You THOUGHT I said they were going to pay that. I never said that.
**EDIT** I do say where I said that now. But that was in reference to if they hired Kerns. You have to read context too....
Talk about moving the goal posts. Your initial argument was it's a lateral move for Kerns. As soon as I said it would be a 50% increase to take Kerns (those were the numbers given by Kerns reps), you immediately took that as they paid the previous coach that much. As soon as I proved that they can pay more than a 50% raise for Kerns (via Forbes contract), your argument changed to that's not really the salary because he left (even though they were contractually on the hook for that amount). Now, your argument is that I stated they would pay ALL coaches more even though I repeatedly said I don't know what they will offer the next coach. Again, I can't help how you interpret things.

When you start arguing with yourself, it's time to put the shovel down.
Glad we are keeping Kerns and he's not taking a lateral (to down) position.
