Teams value the 40 because that’s about how far you run on special teams. They value the 10 and 20 more for linemen. There are occasions I can show you where we had linemen running down field and so they had to show long speed but it is rare.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 6:17 amDisclaimer- I have never played, coached or worked in any capacity with a football team. I have, however yelled from my chair on numerous times in my life and have never been listened to or consulted based on my knowledge. That being said I've never quite understood the importance of the 40 or vertical jump for positions like linemen. I will have to defer to the experts who obviously believe those are important factors. I saw the clip on Facebook yesterday with the interviews with the former players who were at the Pro Day. I've got to say that for what it's worth Pearson looked like a beast. He's obviously a weight room animal. The tight end has always been probably my favorite position to watch. Greg Olsen was one of my favorite Panthers and for years I screamed for App to utilize that position more often. Who knows how or if any of those guys will get a shot but my gut tells me Pearson might surprise.
Pearson will definitely get a chance.
