I had a friend attend the ODU game last year and he was appalled at the sight of the hill after the game.Tru2ASU wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 2:18 pmAnd, if they did any kind of clean up after their tailgate, this may not have happened... All day this. Last year was atrocious, and it's gotten out of control, to the point of pure obnoxiousness.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

It made it so the first option was no longer an option -- they rejected it faster than the question was asked.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 2:39 pmI’m sure it helped make the decision easier, but they needed the spots for displaced season ticket holder from other lots.Tru2ASU wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2023 2:18 pmAnd, if they did any kind of clean up after their tailgate, this may not have happened... That’s a great question. I park in Peacock and I guesstimate that there may be a few hundred.

Re: No tailgate spots for students this season
I appreciate you're response and recognize the statistics you shared. They are what they are...appdaze wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 9:49 pmOn average about half graduate in debt. Donating to App has nothing to do with the current wage issue. Its been an issue for decades. The issue is that my guess about 70% of app students graduate and never look back. They go back to their home cities and root for the blue bloods or maybe home is a different state. App being in the tiny town of Boone absolutely kills its ability to have a large donor population. Lots of stats out there show that universities in larger cities have larger donor bases because the graduates stick around after graduation. The college becomes more of their life and a bigger sense of pride. 99% of App grads do not live in Boone.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 8:11 pmWhy don't recent grads donate?
1. They're all paying off student loan debt
2. They make very little money...and with the ever rising cost of living and stagnant wage growth donating to the Yosef Club is not near the top of the list of priorities.
Hear me Boomers...pay the young people
3. Its not well marketed to anyone that donating, even a little, will help.
I know the Yosef Club is still operated by the University and therefore is restricted in how it can operate but if they would market at a grass roots level on social media to the younger graduates I'm sure you'd see a swell of $5, $10, $20 donations...."Donate a dollar for evey firstdown, $5 for a sack, $10 touchdown, $15 for a turnover"
Oh and don't ask the current undergrads for money. They don't have any and thats just classless.
I'm not a Boomer. I'm probably half the age of that old West Virginian fart that passes through here. I made a decision to work my way through App and came out debt free. It is possible even with today's prices. It is a matter of personal choice. Sit back and let the debt pile up while you frolick around or bust your butt and work your way through. I promise you can still have a social life.
The Yosef Club is active on social media. The problem is that we go back to my previous answer that so many App grads never look back that they won't even follow our social media to see it. They just don't care.

Now about App students not having any money.
"The median family income of a student from Appalachian State is $107,500, and 49% come from the top 20 percent. Less than 1% of students at Appalachian State came from a poor family but became a rich adult."
from top 1% 1.7%
...from top 5% 12%
...from top 10% 28%
...from top 20% 49%
...from bottom 20% 3.3%

Regarding the social media accounts I whole heartedly disagree with you. Just b/c you have an account and you post things does not mean you are using them effectively. I already follow all of these accounts and if you look at them you'll see none of them are directly asking to donate to Yosef Club they are about events for students and buying tickets. Furthermore you posted links to the STUDENT Yosef Club pages, not the Yosef Club...They may be the same thing, idk...
The intent of my original post was that the Yosef Club does not do enough to engage and fund raise from the Young or Recent Graduates (i.e Less than 40 years old). They Young and Recent Graduates may not have much money per my previous post ($107,500 per house hold sounds like a lot but when you do the math it runs out pretty quick) but they are on Social media and would be very willing to donate in smaller increments in asked to do so.

We all know one of the answers and it is listed on a previous post. Just like BB they follow ACC or other P5 teams. Three of the folks I know locally who are APP grads have season tickets to VT. Others are much more inclined to buy concert tickets than contribute to athletics they are not really watching after graduation.

Topic is nothing but click-bait. There are plenty of places for students to gather.

That’s another great question. I’m not sure that you can answer that either way with some level of accuracy.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 7:46 amHow many of those never make into KBS?

Re: No tailgate spots for students this season
Wow, we agree again. I had previously thought the Yosef club should use this as a premium tailgate spot for high paying donors. Something that would be set up for the folks with food and beverages supplied. Just walk up and start the party. But now I think it should be a student tailgate spot.

Nice idea with the exception of providing food and beverages. Offering the spot is fine, but funding their good time isn’t feasible.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2023 7:48 amWow, we agree again. True for sure on the popcorn. Not sure on the ice cream. Soda is $5.00 though.

That’s good to know. I honestly never paid attention to it being available.
