The depth chart

Image

What sticks out to me is the youth. Not in a ton of freshmen, but a lack of seniors.

Also, is Hopper really 255? Someone asked me thinking he was bigger when he came in. And 255 is not big for a NT.

Might have been a late add to the NT room based off earlier convos.
Down Karon White. Is Deshawn Mcknight hurt? Figured he’d be listed, if healthy, at nose.

If this chart holds up we could return 8 starters on both sides of the ball in 2024, with 7 of those 8 on each side coming back in 2025.

Guys been solid! Hope it’s not too bad. Is he still at Defensive end or maybe moving inside for depth?

For you guys who keep the rest of us informed - are there any things within the depth chart that you would consider surprising, concerning, etc.?

Freshman punter is interesting.

Was Tucker WR last year or did he make the switch this off season?

Good to see Harrington as starter and hope he's completely healed up.

About half youth on the D.

The biggest thing for me is we have two listed H Backs. We've never actually listed them as H Backs that I can remember. I know NFL scouts gave that feedback for our staff to include those because it helps draw attention for those types of players -- glad they did it.

Also, Hamlet is going to be a monster as an h back. He is a physical specimen and just nasty. He doesn't care who or what is in his way -- he's hitting it. And hitting it hard. And he has really good hands for someone that played in a triple option attack in high school. I really think Hamlet can start this year at some peer conference schools.

Having Kaedin at PR also seems a little off to me, but I'm old school with my special teams approach. He's likely back there for the same reason Henni did it -- he's going to be a punt catcher with some return ability more so than a punt returner.

The only one that stuck out to me was Andre Hamilton at 3rd string safety. He is a PWO that has apparently earned his shot.

I’m pretty sure that Lake is Freshman in class only. I think he is in his 20s.

Tucker switched back to add depth at slot and get him on the field more.

We will see if Harrington lasts the season. My understanding is that they will limit his reps.

Harrington is starter in title only. His on field leadership is going to be more important than his play this year. Missing that aspect from him last year was way more damaging than him not making tackles.

I fully expect Sullivan and Gooch to get a lot of play time. It would not surprise me one bit to see Sullivan have at least 7 sacks this season.

Ah was hoping he was good. Sucks, but hopefully he improves.

And just imagine the possibilities when someone with a name of Gooch getting big attention.

I expect McHugh's shirt will be pulled before Hernandez gets significant time in meaningful games

Nothing against Hernandez, it's just not close from a talent perspective.

Would assume we are in big trouble if that happens. With 2 injuries causing it.

I agree. Barring any horrible injuries how much playing time is our third string QB getting (beyond those 4 games) that leads to the shirt getting pulled? That being said it's almost pointless now to redshirt anyone, especially a talented QB since they can bolt whenever they want.

We look pretty good size wise at linebacker and on paper the depth also looks promising. Depth and size at nose has to be concerning especially if we can't get push up the middle. While our running back room looks strong I wonder if we will see that crazy rotation again this year. While it's good to have a fresh back in there it seemed like we took out the hot hand at times and killed momentum. We just have to trust the experts.
