If we can rush for around 140 to 150 (or more) and throw for 250 or higher.... No turnovers or inopportune penalties.... Take what they give us.

If the defense can make some stops, don't give up big plays or long 3rd downs, and get a few takeaways.... Play smart.

Loved seeing the tight ends involved more this weekend. Joey throws the best slant passes that I've seen in a while.
I'm not concerned with rush yardage the rest of the season. Run it enough to keep them honest, but with our current personnel we are a passing team. It's ok to play that way.

If we keep this game close I have faith that Elliott will outthink himself and make key errors down the stretch. He's an emotional guy.
Sometimes I'd rather have an overthinking coach than one that stands around guessing...... The battle of the Shawn's is not one of greatness... It's the battle of which doesn't make the stupid mistake.
It must be nice to be perfect. It’s easy to sit back and be the arm chair QB. I’m sure the two Shawn’s have a helluva lot more knowledge about football than you.
Ouch... That hurt. I didn't say they don't have more knowledge. I simply commented on ones tendency to overthink and the others tendency to not make a decision when one is needed. Even Clark says that in his recent press conferences. Go and listen...and get off the high horse.
Spin it any way you want to. You took a shot at both our App guys. I’m not on a high horse, I just get a little tired of those that aren’t around the program and invested 24 hours a day that think they know better than the ones that are.

Especially when our zone runs are getting stuffed way to0 often, because evryone knows how to defend it in the East. Our big successes in the Marshall game came on misdirection and counters, things not slow in developing and telegraphed to their D. Hope we keep at it.

Take the clown show discussion off the weekly game discussion. The rest of us enjoy quarantining DOTE to the teamclark thread knowing not to click there.

Injecting some positivity into the chat.

When’s the last time you’ve seen a player make improvements in-season the way Joey California has? He went from 2nd string Juco transfer to the top QB in the conference, and #6 nationally in TD’s. His first start was at a ranked ACC team which looked to have the greatest DL in the history of the sport the week before, and has saved our tail more times than I can count this year. His pocket presence was impressive for a newbie at the start of the season, and somehow he seems even better back there now. #4 deserves his flowers.

There are no gimme games on our schedule. GSU is pretty good this year, but they are certainly beatable. Grainger is dangerous but he is definitely their biggest threat. If we can get pressure on Grainger and avoid the big gainers, we should be good. I don't think their D can stop us too often although they do look physical. Thanks for nothing, Coach Mike!

If App shows up and plays like we did this past Saturday, we should be in good shape.
I agree on Grainger being their biggest threat, we need to spy him the whole game maybe. He can break those long runs on the option. Keep pressure on him with blitzes from the ends.

His internal clock has improved each game on when to take off and run. Better runner than I thought he would be at beginning of the year. I hope he has a Joey Dimes day on Saturday against GSU.

Who is the California Kid's backup should he need a breather?

I could be wrong but I believe its Hernandez. If Burger gets back to full health (or isn't using a redshirt) it would be him.

If Burger is healthy, he could play last 3 games. He only played in game 1...and the final 3 would total 4....so redshirt still intact if I remember correctly how rules work.

I believe Burger already used his "4 game" redshirt season. He probably can't play at all now if he's wanting to get a medical shirt.

Yes he already used the regular red shirt, if using a Medical RS this season he wouldn't be able to play anymore this season.

He wasn't dressed last game so either he's not yet ready or he plans to seek the medical redshirt. Of course, he could dress in the future if pressed into action because of an injury to Joey. If he's all for the medical redshirt, then why play him if he's not needed?

I agree. If he's going planning to stay at App and wants a legit shot to start for 3 years and can get the redshirt he doesn't need garbage time in remaining games.

Hernandez was taking the 2nd team reps in pre-game Saturday night.
