NC State QB to redshirt?
Saw where Morris is redshirting rest of season according to his father announcing it. Looks like he may hit the portal at seasons end. Sure hope our Joey Aguilar doesn't hit portal. He stands a good chance for a record season next year with numbers he has put up this year so far. He could have a record season with a P5 as well unfortunately.

Joey isn’t going anywhere. The only way he could transfer without sitting out a year is to graduate by Summer 2024. I obviously don’t know his academic journey, but that seems unrealistic given he was just at a 2 yr JUCO.

Thanks. Didn't consider he would have to sit a year. He has a ton of potential now and next season. Was more a comparison to him and State QB than any concerns with State losing a QB nothing stats wise.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 5:57 pmJoey isn’t going anywhere. Unless he claims his mental health depends on his ability to move up to P5ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 5:57 pmJoey isn’t going anywhere. I don't think he would have to sit a year at all. He is not a true "transfer" in that he came from a community college (and I assume has that degree) instead of transferring from another NCAA school. I think he could still transfer 1 time without having to sit out (if he indeed graduated from his JUCO) as could all JUCO players. I could be completely wrong on this but I think the distinction of a JUCO takes him out of the traditional transfer rule.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 5:57 pmJoey isn’t going anywhere. I don’t know to be honest but I was under the impression that it was based on where you transferred to. He would be transferring to a 4-year university for the second time, which triggers the 1 year sit period, unless he is a grad transfer.t4pizza wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 7:05 pmI don't think he would have to sit a year at all. Morris was planned to redshirt all along. Whole family and player seem fine with it.

Re: NC State QB to redshirt?
Yeah, I read the rules that got posted and I don't really know either. I think that if he transferred without completing all his juco requirements than he would have to sit on a second transfer (because it would be a second transfer to a 4 years school). But what is unclear to me, and I think is the case with Joey, is what happens to players who have completed their JUCO requirement (graduated from JUCO with an AA)? Seems to me that those players are not really transferring as much as enrolling in the next level of education and I wouldn't think that initial enrollment would not be considered a transfer.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 7:32 pmI don’t know to be honest but I was under the impression that it was based on where you transferred to. Not sure it matters if has to sit a year. I am sure he will have offers. He also has shown he is willing to move. CA to Boone for example. I just hope that he has embraced the App State culture - just not football. App is a great school - great environment and a great place to be. That itself may keep him here.

Re: NC State QB to redshirt?
NC State RB who saw decent snaps as a freshman just entered portal during rivalry week. They’ve lost 3 RB’s during the season.
4* out of Greenville, NC. App did offer in the 2022 cycle, wonder if we try again depending on who we return. Can never have enough RB’s.
Here’s to hoping they don’t try to contact one of ours again…
