This is why the East side plan never had funding secured. Because I'm far from a genius, so I know for a fact it didn't take a genius to know "funding secured" was untrue.

The article from appstatesports.com mentions that Tommy Sofield operated a successful sandwich shop for 14 years in Boone. Does anyone know the name of the shop? Just wondering if I ate there at some point.

$150M+ spent in 7 years and we still have metal structures and bleachers.

Absolutely gorgeous and a great example to draw from. Maybe DG will visit the football stadium when basketball plays them.
As someone who has to watch games on TV I can tell you that you cannot see the upper Eastside stands or know they are metal. If they are going to add the new east tower it would make sense to start this winter so as to be ready for the NC State game and for it to come before the new IPF b/c it won't be able to start until a new softball field is in place, which it's not.

Bleachers stay (as I understand it), ramps are replaced. I was happy to hear that, as it is by far my least favorite part of the stadium.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 9:42 amHopeful this includes tearing down the East Side 2nd deck metal bleachers with 10 metal staircases and 100 concrete columns that crowd the concourse.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 5:07 pmIf you look closely you can see the purposed east side structure above the existing KBS east side seating...which leads me to think there is a master plan rendering out there.

Re: Initial rendering of new Sofield Indoor Facility
Judging by how long the NEZ took (Covid) and being in the industry, I don’t see this being done by NCSU 09/2025. Even if we break ground tomorrow. Boone is just a difficult place to develop/build; labor, weather, earthwork, materials…etc.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 4:07 pmRome wasn't built in a day...have patience.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 9:42 amHopeful this includes tearing down the East Side 2nd deck metal bleachers with 10 metal staircases and 100 concrete columns that crowd the concourse.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 5:07 pmIf you look closely you can see the purposed east side structure above the existing KBS east side seating...which leads me to think there is a master plan rendering out there.

Re: Initial rendering of new Sofield Indoor Facility
The new softball stadium at App 105 won't be done until after the Spring 2024 season, so softball needs the stadium for a while. Construction on the new Sofield can't begin until Summer 2024 at earliest.
Good news is that it's mostly open space on the inside, so 12 months is possible if you have all the supplies (and that's a big if).
No chance in hell the East Side is done before Fall 2025. They haven't even submitted estimates or had real drawings or anything like that.
I do wish Gillin would address the inconsistencies in the renderings, such as wrap-around seating in the East Side piece and no scoreboard or Jerry Moore Plaza in the Sofield drawings.

East Tower Project - Premium Seating Interest
This survey was created for anyone and everyone to show interest in learning more about the potential East Tower Project. Within this project, and if approved, App State Athletics will be creating approximately 1500 premium seats at Kidd Brewer Stadium with Club Seating, Loge Boxes, and Suites. If approved, completion would be approximately the 2027 season or beyond. The more pledged commitments we receive the quicker the project can move.

Getting rid of the ramps and a few small adjustments will make the deck look much better. Half the stadiums in the league have some or all aluminum seating. We just need to dress ours up a bit.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 5:20 pmBleachers stay (as I understand it), ramps are replaced. Re: Initial rendering of new Sofield Indoor Facility
Still think they're missing an easier and cheaper opportunity for premium seating and suites by building them as a permanent structure to fill in the bottom of the NEZ. This could be done much quicker and we could be getting the additional revenue from those seats all while working on the new East side (the best side btw) additions/renovations. Not to mention how much better it makes the NEZ look.

Thanks for the info. I wondered if it was Yogi's. I loved their sandwiches back in the day. Still miss that tiny little place every time I walk by. Seem to recall hearing that they cooked turkey breasts at home and brought to the shop every day for their wonderful turkey sandwiches.
