New Playoff Proposal

Unread post by t4pizza » Sat Nov 11, 2023 11:06 am

So this is the latest on the new playoff proposal for next year. It is now a 5+7 model instead of the 6+6 that was suggested before. It seems like this is a reaction to the death of the Pac12 . The proposal has a rule saying that any qualifying conference must have at least 8 members, but it then gives it up to 2 years to get that number. So in theory, the Pac 12 has 2 years to gain 8 members and then there would not be a guarantee of the top G5 conference champ getting in. Still has to be approved by all chancellors, hopefully the G5 ones grow a backbone and require specific language to guarantee access.

If they grandfather the PAC12 (if they get to 8) the AAC and MWC are about to be raided.

Will the SBC east stay with the west members or will there be a split?

We could raid the west and take Troy and S Miss.
