Regardless of our opinions about Clark and this team, let’s all keep in mind there is a lot of football left to play.

Way too early to predict, lots of variables. With our attention and track record we should be able to avoid the “Bahamas” bowl that is relocated to UNCC’s tiny venue though.

With Tx State crapping the bed yesterday (really thought they'd man-handle CCU), our chances of winning the East took a hit, but I'm if we win out, I'm happy with the progress. Regaining bragging rates over the Dukes would be a big win. No idea what Bowl we will wind up in. Just win!

Considering Game Day will be there next week and that JMU gets into the top 20 a win by App trumps any secondary bowl.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 9:14 amWith Tx State crapping the bed yesterday (really thought they'd man-handle CCU), our chances of winning the East took a hit, but I'm if we win out, I'm happy with the progress. If we win out and JMU beats Coastal, we’re in the championship game unless JMU gets a waiver. Let’s do the SBC a favor and make sure Coastal isn’t in it.

Re: Congrats - Bowl Eligible
Love y'all, but I can't think about bowls...too focused on App getting the W this week against the Dukes.
And enough of this "eat crow" crap. App is winning games and everyone's entitled to their opinions. If it makes you feel good that you were right and someone else was wrong on a message board...c'mon, man.
Contrary to what some may believe, we're ALL entitled to having an opinion and sharing it.
I am grateful for the many men & women far better than me who both fought and died so I can express mine.

This has been an impressive turnaround. Going to a bowl game and actually finishing above .500 given where we were a month ago is a solid way to go into next season.

Isn't it amazing? A few weeks ago the staff were ignorant and needed to be fired. Now that we have people learning and in the right places, #1s healthy again, and the attitude has returned the staff now looks like geniuses. I'm glad fans don't dictate what happens on the field.....talk about a giant cluster.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Imagine if we had adjusted sooner to the personnel available.
I’m glad pressure (internal and external) was there to make a change.

Just like QB's progress over a season, so do other players. Maybe the personnel wasn't ready to make adjustments sooner. I think it was more than hard headed coaches, not making adjustments. Players are developing, learning and stepping up every week.
And our defense played well enough for us to survive Joey's mesh point issues in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. In the first half of the season, we didn't have the margin for error to overcome issues like that.

Yes there are lots of variables. Good staffs adjust to what is available. Ours adjusted three weeks ago and it has made a huge difference.

With such a young team on D and a new QB, you do not know exactly what you got until you see them in live action. Just my opinionWASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 10:28 amJust like QB's progress over a season, so do other players. Maybe the personnel wasn't ready to make adjustments sooner. 100%. If there was no pressure there are likely no changes and we don't see this turnaround. Like some of us said before, the talent is here. Those defending Clark tried to use the bad Drink class and COVID as an excuse but the reality was that was why were are not deeper in spots but was clearly not the reason why we were struggling.
We have seen a few players develop as well. I feel like Favors has come around and Joey has gotten a lot better to name a couple. We need to get the ball to Stroman more and I think we would seem big time stuff like that long TD he had.

The majority of guys playing on D are freshman and sophomores. I take it that is mostly Clark's class. There are a few from Drink and Satts class I assume if juniors and seniors. Not an excuse. Reality

Re: Congrats - Bowl Eligible
The talent was there, but the talent was not securing the ball, if they do, we have at least 2-3 more wins, maybe four. This was always a young team and would need to adjust and take major steps as the season went along. I still saw some bad angles yesterday and Receivers getting behind us. I also saw the ball on the turf too many times, but this team is growing, and so is the staff.
Beat JMU, that would be amazing considering the season they are having.

Definitely. I feel like if you have the speed, athleticism, strength, and enough skill then work hard and keep playing and good things happen. We can still get better.AppOrange wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 11:02 amThe talent was there, but the talent was not securing the ball, if they do, we have at least 2-3 more wins, maybe four. Beating JMU would mean a lot of confidence. I feel like we stand a good chance.

Let me get this straight. The torch and pitchfork crew that blamed coach Clark and his staff for our 3-4 start are now taking credit for motivating the coaches to a three-game win streak. Amazing.
