We might hate purple. We might hate JMU..... But I feel they are in a better position to move forward than we are. Yes I'm going to get some hate for this. I don't know what it is about them but outside of some internal debacle or violations of some sorts.... I don't see them falling off. They have a winning coach that is a great guy. If they can keep him there for another 2 years they will be tough to beat for the foreseeable future. That would allow him to continue to recruit like he does and they can reload all the seniors they will be losing. He's 51-8 at JMU. He's 118-34 all time. That's a guy that can win. We can always hope a bigger team snaps him up and they can't reload their seniors and lose people to the portal. App will have to keep its foot on the gas, keep growing, and keep the eyes on the prize. We used to be the standard but give credit to JMU. They have done what no one else has. Yes it's in the portal era but still... It's impressive.

Oh I forgot the Halloween Wofford game, the buzz before and during that game was electric! So many great memories, I'm getting old. :shock:Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 8:27 amYou are right. Gotcha didn't read the first response correctly- too early. It's kind of funny how perspective changes. Several of the FCS playoff era games in particular were highly anticipated to say the least. The whole win and advance made many of those games great. You could maybe add our first bowl game but for me none after that makes the list. I didn't consider Michigan because we simply considered that to be a money game and hoped we didn't get killed. The first UNC game is a top 5 for me as we fully expected to win, same for SC. I really don't include the game today but wondered if some might.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 7:53 amI said maybe not even top ten in the FBS era and then listed 11 from that era.
If you like me to go back to the mid-80s I can and drop this game outside of the top 30 in my days as a fan.
Marshall and GS when number 1, Montana playoff games, national titles, Furman semis, so many!

They aren't keeping their coach after this year.
The only advantage they have over us is a higher student fee (80% subsidized athletic budget). With their success the state of VA and those in power at UVA will clamp down on athletic funds to slow them down.

Well to be fair...they havent won anything because they haven't been eligible to. They did beat Troy that won the SBC championship last year.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:15 amThey haven't won anything yet.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:00 amWe might hate purple. I agree. He said yesterday he wants to coach until 75 and got the vibes he already has some offers

I hope the fan and mascot field goal tries are indicative of how their game will go today ...

At this point I'm hoping we win today and Coastal next week even though it would knock us out of championship game. It would also knock these a__ napkins out as well. I don't see a way the NCAA doesn't give them a waiver after this political stunt

Could not disagree more with this take. Sure they have an older experienced coach who does a really good job and they have enjoyed early success. But I truly believe that our younger less experienced coach has really learned many of the hard lessons of coaching and is on the rise. Our team is stocked with young guys making significant contributions and we return nearly the entire team for next year. We will need to replace our 3 interior lineman and some dbs but that is about it. We will be loaded next year and coming off the turn around this year we will again be the hunted.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:00 amWe might hate purple. We might hate JMU..... I was just about to ask the same question- word for word.
One of his 3 indelible memories of being at JMU was when he was arrested. Seems like a quality individual to use as guest picker

It’s actually around 60% now, has to be reduced to 55%.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:15 amThey haven't won anything yet.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:00 amWe might hate purple. Re: Gameday App @ JMU /Game discussion
I mentioned that if they lose Cignetti they are screwed. He will leave and they will lose folks to the portal. That would hurt them a good bit. If he stays then they are in as much of a position to win as anyone is in the SBC. We will be loaded, pending losses to portal (if any), and we should be hitting full stride. We have an inexperienced coach and they currently have an experienced proven coach. As it stands at this very moment, they have a bright future. Now will that crumble? We shall see. I'm pulling for a win today. I really think they have been so distracted by CGD and this whole NCAA crap. I heard very few beat App State things.... It was all NCAA stuff.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 11:44 amCould not disagree more with this take. I think you could have made the same quote two years ago about LaLa, when we were playing them in their home stadium for the Belt Championship. As I posted earlier this season, even at the top level of G5, there is going to be a down cycle at some point.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 10:00 amWe might hate purple. We might hate JMU..... Re: Gameday App @ JMU /Game discussion
I feel like after 2019 we had a mindset of “doesn’t matter who’s at the helm, this culture will never be one that doesn’t win.” And Boise would be like the old man at the corner of the bar giving us a careful warning. We’re now that old man to the folks at JMU
