Let's say JMU is granted a waiver by NCAA and is able to play in postseason ( however unlikely). Now let's say Coastal beats JMU and App beats GSU. Who represents East in SBCCG if all 3 teams are 6-2?

We played a SoCon schedule in our first transition year (our last in the SoCon for all sports) that didn’t count in the football standings. The CAA is more hostile to those who leave (following policy led by JMU when ODU and Georgia State left the CAA), and teams are not eligible for any tournament once it’s announced that a school is leaving. Having to suffer under the rule they helped enforce, the Sun Belt did JMU a solid and allowed them to play SBC a conference schedule last year. Jump ahead to this year, and JMU is smelling itself and likes the scent. They start to come up with all kinds of “rules don’t apply to us, because we’re us,” scenarios and to their credit they back it up with a 10-0 mark before we shut them up for….aaaaabout 15 minutes. The Sun Belt should have let them twist in the wind last year, but we were being nice. And now it’s come back to bite us in the ass.

Year 1 in SBC App applied for an NCAA waiver (as did GSU who won the conference) to play in a bowl. In year 2 App went to Camellia bowl.

What was the difference with JMU in year 2 compared to App? Was Apps last last year in the Southern conference year 1 of the transition?
Yes. That is the basis of JMU's argument. They played an FBS schedule in their first year, neither GS nor ourselves did.

JMU by way of highest winning percentage for total games. In other words rewarded for playing Bucknell, UVA, and UConn

It's actually Coastal by virtue of being 2-0 vs. App and JMU in that scenario.

From Sun Belt site:

"If three or more teams are tied atop a division at the end of the season, the following criteria are used, until one team remains and declared the representative of the Championship game.
1. The team with the highest winning percentage in games played among the tied teams shall be declared the division champion"

Really? That is the SB tie-breaker? That seems odd considering JMU would be 0-2 against the other 6-2 teams under that scenario.

That's not the tiebreaker. It would be Coastal.

It feels gross, but if the TRO lands this week I’ll wear teal under my App sweatshirt this Saturday. Now, where does one find a teal shirt?

That's what I would think, we both would have tie breaker over JMU and Coastal over us both.

Wouldn't JMU's argument fall flat regardless? Yes App played an FCS schedule in year 1 of their transition to FBS but if I remember correctly they did not qualify for the Southern Conference Championship or postseason play.

They already got one exception to play in SunBelt in year 1. GaSo and us had to play year 1 in SoCon. Also, we were denied a waiver. What kind of precedent does it set to continually give them exceptions and where does it stop?

Founding game of the hate game. Shut out! The crew was there for that and we’ll be there Saturday.

Don't have to worry about the federal lawsuit anymore, App State wins again.

It was a memorable game to attend. My blood was thicker then. Unless something changes, the weather yhid Saturday will be raw, but fortunately not that raw.

Good point. Misread the scenario

Virginia AG dropped the lawsuit, JMU’s President announced. Gonna focus on just getting allowed in a bowl.

Beat Southern, pull for JMU over Coastal, and we’re in.

In more than one way. That loss absolutely deflated things for them. Local news hardly talks about it anymore, their fans I know are real quiet. Went to their women's basketball game Sunday and a kid had a "Let JMU bowl" sign. Camera shows him, hardly a cheer at all from the crowd. It's as if they felt undefeated was the only thing that would convince the NCAA.

Should have always been the course of action. Pull against some 5-6 teams this week and hope for the best. Everything else was white noise.
