A whole chunk of the country doesn't even know what the Sunbelt is. If you took a poll of fans in the north and Midwest and even in Cali most would not know who App is much less what conference we play in. Reality

To be pedantic, everyone who watches college football knows who App is thanks to the Michigan, Texas A&M, and to an extent, JMU wins. However, you’re right that those folks probably don’t know our conference, state, or even that we are FBS now.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 11:02 amA whole chunk of the country doesn't even know what the Sunbelt is. And if we are honest they don't care. I for one am just not worried about it like so many are. I care about winning games and championships. If some dude in North Dakota is not following us every week I will not lose sleep over it.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 12:24 pmTo be pedantic, everyone who watches college football knows who App is thanks to the Michigan, Texas A&M, and to an extent, JMU wins. I didn't make that comment to demean our program. I just believe it's reality. I've run into lots of football fans in North Carolina who ask where App State is located.

I have a hard time calling anyone a football fan in NC and being that ignorant. Being a fan of any school requires some basic knowledge of the competition. I’m an not sure what to call them, school-followers maybe but a fan seems a bit strong. Someone from Washington can get a pass, but not from NC. Maybe they are well-wishers, bur not fans.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 4:36 pmI didn't make that comment to demean our program. I just believe it's reality. This is my very generic signature added to each post.

You forget half the people in NC are from somewhere else. We are not the competition to a whole bunch of people.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 5:13 pmI have a hard time calling anyone a football fan in NC and being that ignorant.
