This is the NCAA's fault. If they hadn't made JMU play in a bowl before their transition period was over, they would have won. They didn't get their full 2 years to transition. They haven't matured yet and will file a legal motion to have this removed from their record!

Clearly the rule is the SB team has to have a strong connection App to win.
You want a bowl win? There's an App for that.

Re: Sunbelt bowl games scores
I don't like seeing so many conference foes lose. I'm not going to enjoy it either. It just makes any record we have look weaker and makes the conference look like a joke. We aren't losing to SEC, Big10\12 kinds of teams.
The belt has now lost to ohio, Jax st, Utsa, Duke(not terrible), N. Illini, AF,.......
This is just embarrassing, best g5 conference? Get out of here. Sad times for the belt

Re: Sunbelt bowl games scores
Remember that so many of the sun belt teams in the bowls are not the same teams that got them to the bowl games. JMU and Troy both lost their coaches. That does make a difference and it also shows how fortunate Appalachian is to have won its bowl game, mainly, because App is just that good. Built for the long haul not for just one season or while generational players attend.

Opposing teams also lost players and coaches. It isn't a Sunbelt phenomenon.

Everyone is being affected in some way by the current climate of athletics. I dont see it as much of an excuse as every team in the nation should have the next man up mentality. You've had all spring and a full season to have non starters ready. Those same players were about to take the place of transfers anyway so if they weren't ready that is on the staff. This is how it will be every year until college football fully blows up and bowls are gone. Everyone is going through the same things G5-P5.

Wasn’t expecting SoAL and GaSt being the only others to win so far. I thought Troy would win easy, Dook lost a lot (coach and players).

That’s the quadruple option.

Coastal might pull one off.
JMU ain’t gonna live down the AFA loss for a year.

Coastal's win gives the Belt a 3-3 day, 4-7 overall with Texas State the final participant yet to play.

Troy and JMU were disappointing never looked good in the trenches, which was surprising.
Ark St just got outcoached and refs didn’t give them a chance with that onside kick BS call.

Re: Sunbelt bowl games scores
Friends, can we stop rationalizing bowl wins & losses because teams have lost coaches, kids are in the TP, etc.
Someone remind me...didn't App have a HC depart before a bowl game? How did that turn out?
JMU had a great season and landed a bowl bid. I was disappointed to see how they performed in yesterday...regardless of Cignetti leaving and kids "having the flu." Adversity happens to every team; your fans want to see how you respond.

Re: Sunbelt bowl games scores
A reality check is that a college football season consists of 12 regular season games not 4 or 8. Lots of Belt teams looked great at 4-0 or even 6-2 but you gotta play that last month or two. All the talk about getting a G5 into the playoffs is great but will a team be able to weather injuries and the other crap going on now? A team might roll to 10-0 then the coach leaving talk will start. Players will get hurt and depth will either be there or it won't. Will really good players sit out a playoff game like they do a bowl game because they want to go pro or transfer for NIL?

JMU and Troy stunk it up and never really offered a threat. Very weak effort from both teams.

Re: Sunbelt bowl games scores
Well, I must admit that my first stint in the military was the Air Force. Even though I was supporting a Sun Belt team, I'm not going to "lost any sleep" over this one. I guess it ending being a better finish than I presumed, so to speak.
