the jug
ok...here's the deal. we play at georgia the week before western...and if we get banged up, things are gonna be closer than we'd like with wcu. western is gonna come here ready to avenge every ass whippin' given out by app over the years and spier might even inspire the team by telling them about how coach was treated with his termination/whatever you call it. in some way, he might even want some revenge for coach(theory...i could be wrong so don't hate on me for this idea). it's definitely not a doomsday scenario but i have family members who made the mistake of going to wcu and if we lose the jug forever...i will hear it forever...THIS CANNOT HAPPEN!

I feel your fear PBR and Firemouse...If we lose the jug they will never play us again and laugh for years.
This team may not care about the jug...that is what worries me.

If Western wins I know of at least one person who will have a hammer ready to smash it before they can take it forever.
1-10 App St vs 1-10 WCU is a real possibility.

Re: the jug
I'm sure they would make a monument to it in the center of the "mall" to let it sit on top of so everyone that ever walks on campus can see that they "own" it. I spent a little time at wcu and they live and die "beat app". I think it would be come part of their homecoming.

I think we would feel the same way had we been dominated by a "rival" for so many years.Maddog1956 wrote:I'm sure they would make a monument to it in the center of the "mall" to let it sit on top of so everyone that ever walks on campus can see that they "own" it. Your mother was one of my seventh grade teachers. I remember when she painted the jug, she brought it to school and showed it to us. Coach Satterfield if you're reading this, that jug better not end up in Culloweed!!firemoose wrote:I've said it before but the jug belonged to my Grandfather and my Mom painted it. Re: the jug
The way this season is going the only game I care about now is the ASU vs WCU. We CANNOT LOSE to those Cantamounts! We have to keep that jug and never play them again! I say play second string ( if we have one) at UGA and be ready to win the next week. This may be our season championship, I know it's the only thing left to play for!

Bottom line, it's all this 2013 Mountaineer squad has left to look forward to, sadly. Go App!ASU-FTW wrote:Sad, we sound like Catamount fans. They really are obsessed with us.

Re: the jug
App has never gone 1-11 and lost the jug to WCU in the same year. Serious question. If we are 1-10 when we play WCU and we lose to them, should Scott be fired immediately following that game?

Surely SS and Company will get it somewhat together by then, 3 wins maybe. If not, he definitely will be feeling some heat.Appstate_SunBelt wrote:App has never gone 1-11 and lost the jug to WCU in the same year. Serious question. Dee was also my seventh grade teacher and I was privileged to work for Roby at the Bookstore for several years. They were great people..... letting the jug permanently reside in the 'Whee is NOT AN OPTION!WataugaMan wrote:Your mother was one of my seventh grade teachers. I think that is a serious question. I am not calling for anyone to be fired at this point and I usually feel coaches should get some time to build a program. Problem here is that there was already an existing dominant FCS program that SS inherited. Yes, there were some problems but to go from 8-4 and conference champs to 1-11 and a loss to Western, that would be unimaginable. If the unimaginable were to become a reality, it would be a clear indication that SS is just not ready to be a head coach yet. So if the unimaginable happens, do you keep with a guy that is clearly over his head or find a proven commodity and right the ship? I think that is a serious question and one that CC should give serious consideration. I keep hearing all this "rebuilding" talk and hearing that "it will take years" and I just don't buy it. We are a football school with good football players, if we get a good head football coach who hires good football assistant coaches, all will be fine. The real question that remains for the rest of the season is whether or not SS is a good head football coach, right now the answer is no.

Re: the jug
Be ready for these comments...the program was going downhill for years...it's a wonder that the players/coaches could find the field for all the drug\sex\crime going on. We were really a bad team for years comment, but everyone is so much better now then they were for the last 10 years. It's just the chickens coming home to roost after after just being lucky for so many years.t4pizza wrote:

But after that rant...No I don't think he should be fired until he has more time. Like I said, the transfer of the team was done so poorly, it would have been amazing for us to have done too well.

Re: the jug
If you want to completely destroy a program for years to come then it's an option but since I don't think we're anywhere close to that point, no matter where we finish this year, then NO.Appstate_SunBelt wrote:If we are 1-10 when we play WCU and we lose to them, should Scott be fired immediately following that game?
