Re: NIT
Our NET is 72. Roughly the top 68 teams (or is it more now?) make the big dance. If the next best 32 teams make the NIT, seems like we should be in. I know regular season champs are guaranteed, but it’s good for our resume along with being 3-0 vs teams in the big tournament.

Re: NIT
Also, most projections I’ve seen have us included. One had us being one of the 4 non P5 teams hosting. Also, we’re still top 10 mid major and some of the ones ahead of us are in the dance like Gonzaga and St Mary’s

Re: NIT
There will be 15-20 conference champs ranked lower than us in the NCAA. If only NET mattered we’d make the NIT, but number of eyeballs might win the day. We’ll see.

Re: NIT
I don’t think we know yet. As an aside I was talking to a Trustee to get his take on the recent tournament. He said he thought the only problems with it were the location , the format , the timing , the condition of the facility and the winner.

Re: NIT
The facility is beyond dated and poorly staffed. I personally don’t mind Pensacola but understand why so many are opposed to it. Saw a tweet just a few minutes ago with a projection of us playing at Wake. It basically had us as the lowest seed in that bracket.

Re: NIT
It's ridiculous that we are even having this conversation. I understand losses hurt more than wins help when it comes to NET, but App has as many Quad 1 wins as Wake Forest and Syracuse, and those teams are considered locks for the NIT and are NCAA bubble teams depending on their performance in the ACC tourney.
While everyone is gnashing teeth over NIL and transfer rules, the major conferences (specifically SEC and Big 10) are trying to monopolize college athletics.

Not being a smartarse with you but, to quote Star Wars. "There is no trying only doing." I think they are doing. I hope we can get into the M2. The M2 are still going to be allowed to play....just with their rules.MrCraig wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 8:06 amIt's ridiculous that we are even having this conversation. Re: NIT
You're right. They aren't "trying" to do anything, they ARE doing whatever they want. I guess I'm just still holding out hope that someone, somewhere will do the right thing.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 8:35 amNot being a smartarse with you but, to quote Star Wars. Re: NIT
Yep several of these 10+ loss power schools could lose by big margins in their conference tournaments today and tomorrow...nah that won't make a bit of difference.

Re: NIT
According to this tracker site we have a 0% chance. I'm not going to hold my breath on the ncaa tourney.
At this point I'm only focused on us getting in the NIT and getting 30 wins.

Re: NIT
In a world that cared more about competition than advertising dollars, App would still have an outside chance for an at-large bid. In a perfect world, App would already be in because they won their regular season conference title. However, we don't live in either of those worlds, so some 12 loss Big 10 team is going to take that spot, lose to a mid-major conference tournament champion, and we will all pretend it's an "upset."Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:35 amYep several of these 10+ loss power schools could lose by big margins in their conference tournaments today and tomorrow...nah that won't make a bit of difference.
