Tweetsie Tickets?

We're headed up to Blowing Rock this weekend for a quick family getaway. Our girls are 8 and 6, and one of our unfortunate failures as parents is that they've not yet experienced a day at Tweetsie Railroad. Hoping to take them either Saturday or Sunday as long as the weather holds up. Feeling like this might be one of the last chances we have to take them before they are too grown to get full enjoyment out of the experience.

Anyone have any tips for the cheapest possible tickets? My wife is a teacher, so we can save a couple bucks that way, but it's surprising to me how expensive a day at the park is these days!

Don’t know if they still do it but the SECU used to offer some discounts on Tweetsie, among other amusements.

My two cents!!!!!!!

If you can possibly afford them buy the season tickets and make a few trips while they are that age.

I have 3 children that are older and each year we bought season tickets to somewhere and then got our moneys worth (Went more than once...we camped a lot near the places we bought season passes). In my opinion, the big advantage is you don't have to hurry and try to cram it into one day. You can relax and let kids be kids instead of a militant type schedule.

We would rotate between different places. Carowinds, Wetnwild Emerald point, Busch Gardens, Universal, Disney.

Yeah, if we'd be sure we would be able to get back up for a 2nd visit, that would probably be the play. I doubt we do, though. We have season passes to the NC Zoo, and we use those at least a few times a year. Amazing value there.

Nothing helpful to add other than good for you. I made it an annual dad & daughters day to take them when my girls were little. Good memories, even more so since Tweetsie was one of my part time jobs during my years in Boone.

Man, I'm feeling it right now. Our oldest is going into 3rd grade and looking more grown up every day. It's wild.

Speeds up a lot after that as well it seems. I have one going into her senior year of HS but I have the opposite end of dealing with an upcoming 3rd grader as well (and another in the middle).

Like someone else posted. SECU offers discounts, also AAA some years. Ride the train as many times as time permits. Take sunglasses to keep the ash (cinders) from getting in your eyes.Ride the chairlift as many times as time permits. Let the kids go in the petting zoo all they want. It's wonderful. Cups of corn are like 50 cents for the animals. Emus, deer, goats etc Amusement rides are fun, too. All free with the regular park admission .

It is certainly worth the money. There's also feature adjacent that is cheap. Rope climbing for kids.

UPDATE: Went yesterday, and the kids had a blast. We got there right at opening and stayed most of the day. My oldest is aging out of some of the smaller rides, but there were quite a few they had to ride over and over.

Met a couple on their honey moon once.
