Nice Job App. St.
Continue Building the Brand.

NC School of Banking moves headquarters to App State to foster ‘excellence in banking education’
More than 200 financial professionals took part in the school’s 2024 program at App State..

The North Carolina School of Banking (NCSB) — the longest running state banking school in the nation — has moved its headquarters to Appalachian State University, marking a significant milestone in the school’s 88-year history and establishing a strategic partnership designed to enrich academic and professional development opportunities for future banking leaders.

The school has operated since 1936 and was most recently stationed in the state’s Triangle region.

This year, the school’s annual summer program took place July 22–26 at App State’s Boone campus. The program, which is administered by the North Carolina.

Banking Association (NCBA), is designed for banking professionals who want to advance in their careers, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the banking industry. NCBA is the state’s professional trade organization for the banking industry.

App really needs to work this for all it’s worth. That’s the potential donor class we need. Banking and insurance could be our Doctors and lawyers.

This is a great development. We already have pretty impressive representation in the banking industry as I've worked with, and run across, them regularly and I'm talking in significant leadership positions. As a graduate of the Walker COB, I may be biased, but I don't think we push our business school as much as we should.

agreed...Econ major and MBA for me (early 90's). When I was in school, App always had some of the highest scores in the state on the CPA exams. Beating out a lot of UNC/Duke folks.

Would not have passed on first try without that CPA prep class. Dr. Larson was the best.

I took that CPA prep class with Dr Larson also...I was well-prepared but the Business Law section kicked my ass :( ...so I was not a one-timer...

I'd say most of the time I'm happy I changed from Accounting my last semester and therefore didn't have to take the CPA. My MBA Accounting class starts today, not looking forward to this semester.

Well, I got lucky on business law. Last section I studied
Was running out of days
So thought process was getting the 50 so not lose the others due to one low grade. The luck was that there were not one but two cases on commercial paper. As I was in banking a couple of years before going back to grad school.. commercial paper endorsements were easy...so rolled to a 75 for the win. C's get degrees as they say😂😂

Thanks, it is amazing how much you can forget in 20+ years. And the difference of trying to learn online without much professor involvement.

I took the CPA prep class in 84. It was Peacock's first year as a professor at App and he taught the tax portion. Larson taught the practice and theory. Great class and I'm sure I wouldn't have passed on the first try without it. I'm in banking now, so this seems like a great development to me.

Dr. Peacock had moved up to the Dean of Business School by the time I arrived. However, he was very personable although he had less interaction with the students in the classroom after he moved into that role. Great speaker..
