Another year of Clark and App State football will cease to exist.AppinVA wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:18 pmI think he gets another year, given all that’s happened, but you go for the hungry, young, coach who will leave when he builds back a winner.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:08 pmECU firing their coach
UNC going to ask Mack to retire
AppState will make a change
NC State mostly likely will
Who do you hire with all those other jobs that will pay more????

Re: Marshall..?
I skipped over most of the thread. I did see someone say that they should be selling those "Mountain Strong" shirts and donating the proceeds. THEY ARE. Go to the store on AppStateSports.com. They are "pre-selling" them and 100% of proceeds go to the hurricane fund. I ordered one yesterday. It's a joint effort with Alumni Hall so their site probably have them also as well as the bookstore.
All I will say is the team continued to fight. Two blown plays (busted coverage for the long TD and the interception for a TD) were the difference in the game. Frustrating but there's hope things could come together.

Some mistakes, but Joey is giving it all within his abilities and what he has to work with. I think he'd throw it to himself if he could, just to get things going. Its just sad to watch.

Re: Marshall..?
If those take place it should make some good assistant coaches available. Not necessarily a bad situation.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:08 pmECU firing their coach

Let’s give him another year to see if he can go winless! We need to see how low he can really take the team. Why stop at just a handful of wins when we could absolutely destroy the team AND stick with Clark because he bleeds black and gold?!

Looks like one of Clark's apologists is posting earlier that anticipated. The mental gymnastics that you exhibit with explaining away a loss is unreal.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:23 pmI skipped over most of the thread. Doeren would be a good fit??? I don't think he survives another season at State but he has had a good solid run there.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:24 pmIf those take place it should make some good assistant coaches available. Re: Marshall..?
Please would one of you guys who constantly beats to death the same mantra about how much talent we have please please show the proof. We have a really good quarterback and some decent running backs. We have a couple good receivers (1 really good). We apparently don’t have that Bell Cow back because we rotate them constantly. Tight ends pretty good but seldom used. I’ve been of the opinion that most G5 offensive linemen are generally too slow as physically they are as big as most P4 linemen. An inch and 20 pounds isn’t a drastic difference. We are small on defense and simply don’t have depth. Defensive backs are either slow or can’t adjust. Who is our green dot on defense?
I’ve said this many times- it’s going to be nearly impossible to get that coveted token CFP playoff spot. The best G5 has to probably (not always but usually) beat a good P4, navigate and maybe only lose one conference game and then beat the second best team for a championship before taking on the 5th best team. We are already beat up and not half way through the season.

Re: Marshall..?
I didn’t say that’s what I want. I’ve resigned myself to that’s what will happen. The optics have changed. But when the delayed inevitable happens I want the young and hungry coach.8993 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:25 pmThere we go.AppinVA wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:18 pmI think he gets another year, given all that’s happened, but you go for the hungry, young, coach who will leave when he builds back a winner.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:08 pmECU firing their coach

Re: Marshall..?
I agree with you. Defense probably the worst in App history in it's entirety. Offensive line is horrible, a good line in place and the studs we do have would look like superstars.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:35 pmPlease would one of you guys who constantly beats to death the same mantra about how much talent we have please please show the proof. Whether we have the talent or not it’s the responsibility of the head coach.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 6:35 pmPlease would one of you guys who constantly beats to death the same mantra about how much talent we have please please show the proof. And to fall in love with the portal is fool’s gold. There is often a reason why most players enter the portal. Either they suck to begin with, are lazy or have attitude problems. I’m not lumping them all together but…
And if a lineman in particular never really played at a P4 what is used to assess his ability? Surely not high school game film. We have had a few good players plucked from the portal but we also apparently have some who simply aren’t good enough.

I can just imagine Saban right now...the receiver sits in the cradle of the rotary-dial phone...his hand sits on the receiver, shaking because a team full of kids he recruited lost to Vandy.
