So you kept your tickets after 2001 despite wins going from 9 to 8, 7 and then 6 in 2004, and after 4 wins in 2013 but have already made up your mind you won renew if Clark is back next year? If you had that mindset in 2004 you would have missed out on the beginning of our incredible national title run. It's your money so you have the right to make that decision, but it's hard for me to understand the logic there.

Yes, but I think most people’s frustration is based on far more than just this season.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 12:06 pmI can understand that. However, we won 9 games last year and won our bowl game. Not what we would like overall..but not an extended period of like 5 losing record seasons in a row. If someone is bailing during the current season (if it ends up as a losing season), personally I see that as fair weather fandom. Just my opinion.KentHogan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 11:49 amAppScott89 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 11:09 amI'm sure there is someone on the waiting list, who would be glad to take your tickets.
Pure example of all of our Fair-weathered Fans. If you are a true fan, you come win or lose.
I would say true fans demand better and are never satisfied with average.
Sure, true fans stick around through good and bad, but just because they choose to demand better doesn’t make them bad fans.
So if someone cancels their season tickets, doesn’t mean they aren’t true fans.
Just my opinion.

Two years ago we finished 6-6 thanks only to a Hail Mary pass, otherwise we’re 5-7.
Last year we were sitting at 3-4 before the season turned. Credit to Clark for saving the season, but we only made the championship game because JMU wasn’t eligible.
And now we’re sitting at 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference and have been embarrassed badly twice.
Plus, we’re at 5 seasons straight under Clark without a Sun Belt title, counting this season.
So, I think most fans feel a steady decline that isn’t changing overall.
My hope is for App to be one of the best G5 teams in the country and we’re not even close right now after 5 years with Clark.
So, for me, it’s about the overall body of work, and it’s not been good enough.

Re: I am with you Coach Clark
Maybe we need new coaches or maybe not. However, we need better tackling and people being the right positions. Coaches are not doing the arm tackling and whiffing on tackles. I know you are going to say that the coaches are responsible. I agree. But I've seen players this year miss tackles that they made last year. Did they forget? Coaching can only go so far. The players have to do the on-field stuff. If you get rid of coaches you need to replace players, which then opens up a new can of worms. Then how long do you give to new guys to mesh together.

The message if he stays is we don’t care about the program. If they don’t, fans will not.rbarthle17 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 10:35 amI just don't see how they would decide to pull the trigger on a six figure buyout after 12/1 with things as they are in the area. The optics would be terrible and the decision tone deaf. People can't get in and out of their houses but we'll pop for 500k to get rid of a football coach, plus whatever bigger number it will take to get a good coach to come here? That's gonna be a really hard sell to make.
I think coach rides out the rest of his contract, or at least gets the 2025 season and then take the temperature of the overall situation again.

I'd agree that they gave up against USA, but to my eye they played hard to the end against Marshall. That was one of the few positives.boonetodd wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 3:32 pmSo you kept your tickets after 2001 despite wins going from 9 to 8, 7 and then 6 in 2004, and after 4 wins in 2013 but have already made up your mind you won renew if Clark is back next year? I don't if he means to, but Clark comes off an dishonest at various points in his press conferences, especially regarding personnel.
"We came out of Clemson healthy." Then five key players are out versus ECU, some of them season ending. That was the worst one.
After Marshall, he was asked about repetitive defensive mistakes and immediately says we can't turn the ball over on offense. Then he says Joey wishes he would have those INTs back. You mean the screen pass where Kanye knocked it into the air of no fault of Joey?
There was last year after the first game where he very passionately claimed Burger would come back and have a great week of practice, giving the impression he wasn't injured at all. This was even tho Burger had a bandage out on his finger, then bled through the bandage before Joey was put in, then had an operation in the NEZ at halftime on his finger, and people knew about it.

I just don't think Clark is super polished at press conference/media gatherings. I don't think it is a 'dishonest thing' -- I think it's more a naive type of thing and he probably was trying to downplay the injuries. He isn't very good in front of Yosef Club crowds either.
Drink was excellent and loved the attention, Satt was shy didn't care for it and that's why he will struggle to stay at a P5. Jim Fox could make a crowd laugh but you could tell he will stumble around at times. Buzz would smile and tell a story in which everyone adored. Kerns controls his message for sure, not sure he has a P5 personality though.
Mack Brown is currently the best College coach in the state football or basketball at media talks and it's not close.
Some Coaches can NOT take what just happened on the field process it and then speak on it in front of a crowd, some coaches aren't very savvy as others. Some coaches example about the INT's can't recall that type of stuff without going back and watching the film.
These are weaknesses of Clarks for sure, there were other coaches in other sports at App State who very much struggled with words on a radio show or media.
The art of being a good college coach is obviously winning BUT also painting a picture of the program and what is going on so the general public understands it in a simple way.

I give mack credit. Could be 2-10 and you think they are on the cusp of the natty going into next year.
When Buzz was named head coach, attended the tour stop in Hickory. Was not that impressed with communication skills...tried too hard to keep mj in the conversation.
Drink is a good salesperson.

He's already been evaluated and reevaluated on here ad finitum. The almost complete consensus on here is that he is toast. For me, however, it is completely up to DG and whomever the chancellor might be. I will support the program whether it be thumbs up or thumbs down.PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 9:24 amUntil the end of the season. 100%

How sweet of you to say that. Taking satisfaction out of seeing a former App's demise. At least you are in character. Whether he goes or stays, we should all support him in his endeavors.
