We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: GA St Discussion-Game Thread
I'm going to take the unpopular route and sat that there was some improvement in the LaLa game. I know it's an if, but if Kanye's fumble is ruled upon correctly, we are tying that game up or taking the lead in the 4th quarter. The defense at that point had given up three points on the previous three possessions (on a forced punt, missed FG and made FG). We even forced a punt on a three and out on their next possession after the fumble-rooskie TD, then made a pick.
So over Six possessions, they created a turnover, forced two punts, allowed two FG attempts and the Fumble-Rooskie on a short field.
That's the best stretch of defense we've played since ECU.
They gave up only 125 yards in the second half (partially due to the short field, but also because of better performance), but 4 turnovers provided no help.
We also had a back up placekicker step up and perform.
Now, is that the standard we want. No. But, there was some improvement on the defensive side the last time we took the field.
I have zero expectations this weekend. But, I'll be in the stands from kickoff to final horn cheering for the team to pull it together and get a much needed win.
While I'm being brazen, Joey should be guaranteed no more than a first half with the start. if we're not performing offensively, it's time to put in QB2. Even Quinn Ewers had his Dr. Pepper commercial become instant irony.

Re: GA St Discussion-Game Thread
Heard a good one regarding Alabama on the radio yesterday that had me thinking about App State season.
Bama defense hasn't been too hot this year (we can all agree App State defense has struggled)
What has compounded both teams struggles is the fact QB's have also turned the ball over too much.
Joey needs to control the game and hopefully Sloan finds a way to get some stops..
Poor defense and bad turnovers by the Offense are recipes for bad years and coaches on HOT seats.
Appy 38
Charlie Cobb's Panthers 24
The return game after the Hurricane will be emotional and App rolls!!

I don’t think we have ever lost to GState in football. I don’t think we ever should but I know it will happen someday. If it’s this weekend , there will likely be far reaching implications on our program.

I'm now convinced that Clark could lose the rest of the games this year and all of next year and somehow he would get an extension....

I would agree with your take here...while mistakes were made, the defense did appear to gel as the game went along.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 8:59 pmI'm going to take the unpopular route and sat that there was some improvement in the LaLa game. Hoping for a win on Saturday, it would do everyone up on the mountain a lot of good.

And some would like us to lose the rest of the games to make sure he is gone. It goes both ways.

I don’t think we’ve been right since that Block at Wyoming. Honestly I don’t think I’ll ever get over that.

Either extreme would help Gillin make the decision easier but I agree. I think Shawn needs to go 4-1 or 5-0 to be safe and just doubt it happens. I think Shawn needs to win the next 2 and at least split JMU and Ga Southern. I would like to see some more improvement this week. If we don't win this game then I don't think he ends up making it past December 2.AppinVA wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 8:07 pmAnd both are dead wrong.t4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 8:01 pmAnd some would like us to lose the rest of the games to make sure he is gone. Re: GA St Discussion-Game Thread
Clark 100% has to beat Georgia State. Returning to Boone. Against a team App has never lost to. Against a team on a three game losing streak playing on the road for the second straight week. Coming off a bye week. It's like the Southern Miss game last year in many respects.
Then you got a red hot ODU coming in next weekend on the heels of two massive home wins and two extra days rest.

Also, GA State has a new coaching staff while App's has been around a while. That SHOULD be enough to guarantee a Mountaineer win.T-Dog wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 12:22 amClark 100% has to beat Georgia State. Returning to Boone. Against a team App has never lost to. You would think that with the extra time off we may see some new wrinkles. But honestly I’m expecting to see the same crap we’ve seen all year.

If they win with yellow, stick with it. It has been dreary enough around here.

Re: GA St Discussion-Game Thread
In this new era of college football does late season “improvement” really carry over to the next season? Teams can start slow or badly, turn things around and finish strong then lose a dozen or so guys to the Portal, a bunch more to graduation, lose some coaches, etc and it’s start over again in the fall. If your program is good you generally regroup and you’re good again, bad and bad. This is by no means saying to make a change. Like most anyone here I’m not qualified to assess and make the decisions. This is just to say that there aren’t many examples of teams really building off of prior seasons unless they now buy players and restock.
