Random thoughts!!! 1 Boise/MWC in bye spot 2 FOI
I hope it ends this way. Boise getting the bye spot in the 12 team cfp could be big for us G5s going forward.
More importantly, has anyone ever used an FOI to find the truth about who we are asking to play us in Boone for both Basketball and Football. I would love to know who we have asked and who has turned us down and maybe some whys.

Would this even hit the radar where FOIA is concerned? Sounds more like a couple of informal phone calls and some notes jotted on a legal pad.

Would certainly be a good way to waste some poor administrative assistant's time.

Regarding Boise in the top 4, I hope it happens too. But my guess is that would spell the immediate end of conference champions automatically getting the top 4 spots.

Boise in the top looks great on paper but foe this to matter in the way we want they have to win. Otherwise it's more "proof" that g5 doesn't belong.

You forgot the G5 (Boise) rep. Take off a Big 12 team.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 9:01 amUltimately the playoff will be:

Big 10 has 4 of the top 5 currently, would be tough to jump them, but to create a stink you're probably right about the 5 SECs.

I actually meant in a few years not this year. At some point they will kill off the G5 spot. The argument will me made that any G5 will have to earn a legit top 12 ranking.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 9:10 amYou forgot the G5 (Boise) rep. I don't think so, they'll continue throwing the G5 one spot as they expand to 16 teams.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 9:38 amI actually meant in a few years not this year. It's more likely they completely break off from the NCAA than to get rid of the G5 spot in the current setup.

Exactly. And even if they do, the reaction won't be "I guess the G5 really can play after all," it will be "Get Boise to a power conference, they're too good for G5!"
In reality, whichever two teams get the 3/4 seeds will likely be sizable underdogs in their first game, regardless of whether Boise is one of them.

Which is so dumb. No one says these things about college baseball or basketball, only football. In every other sport, folks love the underdog. We love to see UMBC or George Mason or whoever make a Cinderella run. But football? HELL NO! We need to have only the BIG BOYS who play in REAL CONFERENCES. So stupid.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 11:17 amExactly. Different animal when compared to the other sports but yes. In all honesty, the G5 rep isn’t any more of a poor representation that most of the P5 schools.MrCraig wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 12:07 pmWhich is so dumb. It's ironic that we began the season discussing CFP and now we're ending the season discussing CFP...albeit with a vastly different flavor to the conversation.

Re: Random thoughts!!! 1 Boise/MWC in bye spot 2 FOI
I am excited for Boise to get to play a lower seed than a 1 seed. This is the part that I meant could be good for a G5 team going forward. I don't want it to be 1 vs 12 ever...that is how they get the "G5 doesn't belong". Which as others have said most other p5s don't belong against the number 1 seed either.
FOIA.....So what gives on the basketball scheduling. Stonewall says it has been discussed. I don't recall a list of teams that aren't willing to come up the mountain. If there is such a list I think we need to start shaming them as scared to play. We have tried being nice. I just can't believe Furman, College of Charleston, Davidson, Western Carolina, UNCG aren't willing to play a home and home.

Re: Random thoughts!!! 1 Boise/MWC in bye spot 2 FOI
I should have finished my thought. Yes I think the breakaway happens and the top G5 needs to relish these opportunities because it won’t last. It’s utterly ridiculous that the same level of football allows for what is a relegation of sorts. Probably half of the current P4 schools are glorified G5 type anyway.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 10:08 amI don't think so, they'll continue throwing the G5 one spot as they expand to 16 teams.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 9:38 amI actually meant in a few years not this year. They wouldn't open with the 1 seed anyway. 12 seed opens against the 5 seed, with the winner advancing to play the 4 seed.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 2:19 pmI am excited for Boise to get to play a lower seed than a 1 seed.
