We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: I am with you Coach Clark
I think Clark gets another year but we'll have major staff changes. A large chunk of the team is back, especially on defense. I am encouraged by the play of some of the young guys on that side.
One thing to consider is our major donors, who would pay a buyout, are also currently investing in two large construction projects and most of our NIL cache.

You can't judge on one game and to me if you want him gone it is based on the whole tenure, or last 3 years.Yosefus wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 4:21 pmThere has to be a change regardless of end of this season. This brand of football will never be more than mediocre. Right now I would even take an old triple option guy...we'll maybe not that.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 4:10 pmCan't ever make a decision either way based on one game. I would hope Gillin is above making an emotional decision.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 4:07 pmIf we make an emotional decision to extend Clark based on an underdog victory today, id officially ask for DGs resignation.

I mentioned that emotion would come into play the last two games.
Pregame discussions were win two and he’s safe but there will be changes to the staff either way. We’ll see if my intel is accurate.

Based on pregame , and postgame conversations, it’s 50/50. I wouldn’t bet either way.

Re: I am with you Coach Clark
i would love to see us grab a dub over gsu ...get to a bowl...win a bowl....but even that...is inexcusable..this team had no business not only losing 5 plus games but getting completely embarrassed and outcoached on national tv multiple times...s alabama....clemson....coastal....time for clark to go even though i do like him....but if he returns...at minimum need a new defensive coordinator

Re: I am with you Coach Clark
Someone of influence told me yesterday that letting the staff go was the safe recommendation for DG. If he doesn’t and next year is similar, or worse, he owns it. A new coaching staff will be given a few years to put their program in place. Again , Norris will make the final decision and her plate is full but I expect she will hear from a lot of $$$ folks if we end up sub .500.

For over two years now, I have been trying to make the same points about Clark: at this point we know what we have. The only reason to let him go is to hire a better coach. The athletics department is now around NINETY MILLION DOLLARS in debt. We can't afford to let this staff go and try to bring in better coaches.

Re: I am with you Coach Clark
I double checked this and can't believe I am about to type this. IF we win next week, Clark will finish second in sunbelt east....arguably one of if not the best division in G5. It is hard to fire a coach who finished 2nd in the east.
PS we will have the tie breaker over GS and JMU to finish second.

Only if we lose. If a game day experience like yesterday is delivered consistently, fans aren’t going anywhere.
And the students will still be there having a blast, as they always do

Re: I am with you Coach Clark
It’s hard to justify firing any coach with a 10 win and two 9 win seasons in 5 years. That’s a tough thing to explain to any potential replacement that you are trying to hire.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:37 amI double checked this and can't believe I am about to type this. If JMU wins, both JMU and GaSo will be 5-3, we’ll be 4-4.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:37 amI double checked this and can't believe I am about to type this. Re: I am with you Coach Clark
I believe and support Clarke
What staff changes do we need to see? I think OC with Ponce is fine, our offense has been good when we’re not turning the ball over, a more conservative QB would help with that next year
Defensively we never pass the eye test, but yesterday was another game where the defense came thru despite looking absolutely terrible early on. (it’s happened multiple times this year, just not consistently)
Special teams has been great the last month, 2 blocked punts, Hughes returning from injury was nice but Jackson did solid filling in. Punting has been solid

You are right. Whatever I was looking at had us at three losses.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 11:01 amIf JMU wins, both JMU and GaSo will be 5-3, we’ll be 4-4.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:37 amI double checked this and can't believe I am about to type this. Speculation. Opinions. With which a message board abounds. In about a week , perhaps a little more ….we will know if there is going to be a change. However , the “why” , whatever happens, will once again be left to speculation and opinion. I’ll ask the question either way but I really don’t expect a full explanation.

But but but we’ve gotta give the new DC time to get his guys. The excuses will never end.
