Re: I feel..... ?
If we can’t afford to fire a coach, then we most certainly can’t afford to compete in NIL and the portal.
If that’s true, then App football is finished in terms of competing in D1.
College football as we know it is no more, perhaps App football will never be the same as well.

Students make up half our attendance. Stands are spotty outside of the student section.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 11:05 pmI’m sure this has been talked to death on this forum. It’s gotta be Tre Lamb. People will shoot me for that, say “let’s hire a coach with Head Coaching experience”. Well, Eli didn’t have it and Satterfiekd didn’t have it.RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 10:02 pmI have a hard time believing App can't come up with $500k for the buyout and then pay for a new up and coming coach. Attack the portal and tell them if they shine at App then they will probably make solid NIL money with a P5 after one or two seasons. Any new coach would know that if they win one or two conference championships at App a P5 will come calling with a job offer.
Give me Tre Lamb. Dude is a winner with minimal resources everywhere he goes.

Re: I feel..... ?
I have said this before on so many different threads: we are (comparatively), massively in debt. With the IPF, it is close to $90 million. Going back over two years when the nonsense of the "fully funded" East side came up, I've been talking about the financial realities of this Athletics program.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 11:05 pmI’m sure this has been talked to death on this forum. I am afraid this is the case.

If we are strapped for cash now wait until revenue sharing kicks in and many who don’t believe in paying player salaries fade away. Tough times ahead for college sports unless you are a big dog.

Re: I feel..... ?
Move Boise to a P4 conference and revamp their schedule they are:
ACC- probably around Louisville at 8-4 or 9-3
Big 12- probably around Colorado at the same record
Big 10- probably 5th or 6th around Illinois. They lost to Oregon game 2 but figure that matchup is mid season
SEC- no telling but probably in the LSU/A&M range at maybe 8-4.
They have for years been in the same position as a mid tier type power school. Take a look at the former strong G5’s who vaulted to the “worst” power 4 conference. They are all buried. I’m sure Cincinnati, Houston and UCF have more money and probably NIL than App and what was their return? Those who think we are a bunch of written checks away need a serious drug test.

I guess 27-25 as a head coach is technically a winner. 1-2 in the playoffs isn't.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 2:00 amIt’s gotta be Tre Lamb. Lamb went into bad situations and turned them both around. Clark has turned our program around too.

Re: I feel..... ?
Sharing season feelings is therapeutic in a way.
The learning curve was too steep for Clark. He never caught up and has spiraled downward.
It’s a very difficult job and was behind the 8 ball from the beginning as he was ill-prepared for the position. Throw in a changing CFB landscape and it has been at best inconsistent and in reality an objective setback for the program.
The mistakes made last night by the players and staff in the final game of year five, playing for a bowl bid, were a microcosm of the state of this program right now. Emotional and undisciplined.
The SBC was weak this year and we went 3-5 against our peers.

Re: I feel..... ?
This. We have royally squandered the wave we were riding in the Satt years and 1 year of Drink. We were in the NY6 conversation and perennial tops in the SBC. We have slipped into mediocrity and are feared by no one.Yosefus wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 9:56 pmI feel embarrassed for how far a great program has fallen. The 5 wins were great but every one of the 6 losses were stunning at the level of ineptitude and ignorance. It was painfully obvious how out coached we are on many occasions and some of the stupid crap. A lot of our competition I'm sure has gotten some laughs. Tonight is a perfect example of wasted efforts and poor coaching.
I am fine if we become a stepping stone school for up and coming coaches, so long as the product on the field is good. With the transfer portal and NIL, I feel like longevity in the coaching staff is less and less important.
No matter what though we need a change. I love Clark, but he is not the guy.

Re: I feel..... ?
Well if no changes are made I am not going to be in the stands next year,. Been there for over 20 years but not wasting my time until something is done. Like everyone else says if we are that poor drop back to FCS. This is ridiculous.

Re: I feel..... ?
Going for it on 4th & goal is not the issue. It's the choice of play calling on 1st, 2nd & 3rd downs AND THEN the horrible decision for a shotgun run up the middle.
What made it worse was seeing the quick snap goal line TD in the 4th...The play is in the play book why didn't you use it then?

Re: I feel..... ?
This hasn't been asked or mentioned but how do the players feel about the current coaches & decisions?
I can't imagine they were/are pleased with how the 2nd quarter ended which directly lead to how the end of the game played out.

Character is the one thing we haven’t had to worry about with this staff. Unfortunately the list of items we have had too is much longer.
